Chapter231
The man patiently coaxed, “I’ve planned it out. We’ll have the
wedding on Emery’s sixth birthday next month.”
If Bethany hadn’t been unwilling to let him know she had vocal
signs, she might have laughed out loud.
He wanted to have a secret marriage, so he did. He wanted to
have a wedding ceremony, so he did.
When did he ask for her opinion?
He just wanted to control her life.
She wanted to do animation, she wanted a divorce, he knew
everything she wanted, but he just didn’t agree with any of it.
Bethany turned around and looked at Terrence indifferently,
with a hint of contempt at the corner of her lips, “Getting
divorced and still having a wedding, don’t you think it’s
unnecessary?”
He knew Bethany needed to vent, so he didn’t get mad at her.
Instead, he took out the sound–emitting diamond ring from his
suit pocket, which he specifically brought out with him when

he left.
He grabbed Bethany’s hand.
Bethany pulled back a bit, putting a little more force, and just
happened to see a few purple marks on her wrist.
His eyes darkened as he slid the ring onto Bethany’s finger,
looking focused.
A moment later, he looked up.
“You couldn’t speak because of Mr. X, why didn’t you tell me all
these years? If you had told me, I would have taken you to get
treated. Since Davon said there are doctors abroad who can cure
your aphasia, I will accompany you to go abroad tomorrow.
Until you are cured, you can use this ring”
Bethany tried to pull her hand back, but Terrence slipped
through her fingers, his fingertips entwined with hers, showing
no intention of letting go.
He held her hand, knowing she couldn’t use sign language to
respond to him.
Actually, she didn’t need to say anything. He said it all to her.
“Davon said you can do that role if you want, you don’t
necessarily have to go abroad to make animations. I will talk to
Davon and let you do it at home. I have made so many
concessions, so stop making a fuss, be a good girl, okay?”
Lately, this kind of almost out–of–control marriage life is not
what he wanted.
He wanted to return to the peace of the past.
Even though he often traveled for work, every time he came
back home, it felt like a safe harbor with her around.
He didn’t like the cold and distant feeling now.
However, before Bethany could say anything, a phone call came
It was Emery who called.
Terrence answered the phone and put it on speaker. It was a call
from her son, Bethany must have wanted to hear her son’s
voice too.
“Dad, where did you go? Did you forget that I have a paper-
cutting competition for kids today?”
Terrence and Bethany both knew about this.
After the parent–child activity, Emery said he wanted Krista to

accompany him so that people wouldn’t laugh at him for having
a mute mom.
“I picked up your mom, and then the three of us went out
together.””
Bethany glanced at Terrence, raised her hand, about to refuse,
when Emery’s voice came through the phone, “Dad, I made
plans with Krista. Didn’t we agree last time that she would come
with me? She’s almost here, just waiting for you.”
Thinking about what happened before, Terrence couldn’t help
but feel a little ashamed.
Because the first time, he didn’t stop it. Later, Emery started to
show signs of disdain towards his mother, and it seemed like he
couldn’t hold it back anymore.
