Chapter279
“Kyson, let me tell you, Terrence was tougher than you. He just
turned off his phone and didn’t even give you a chance to find.
him. If you ask me, you better stay out of this. If it was someone
else trying to steal his wife, I bet he would’ve dealt with them
already. Why bother? Do you really want to become enemies
with him? We’re all men here. Whether you love your woman
or not, you can’t let someone else think about her. Just let it go,
okay?”
Lucian always thought it was Kyson’s fault, since Terrence and
Bethany were legally married with a marriage certificate.
“Since I couldn’t reach you, I hung up first.”
Kyson closed his phone and rubbed his brow. Lucian was right,
Terrence was tougher than him.
Terrence hid the person, probably wouldn’t let him find them
that easily.
It wasn’t until late at night that Bethany slept more soundly.
Only then did Terrence pick her up and lay her on the bed,
kneeling on one knee by the bedside. He took off her shoes for
her, then gently pulled the blanket over her.
Terrence sat by the bed all night.
There were some specks of red on the stomach of the white
shirt.
The next day, when Bethany woke up, she heard someone.
cooking. She slowly opened her sleepy eyes. The light coming.
through the blinds was a little yellow and kind of harsh.
The room wasn’t big. When she looked closely, she saw a tall,
familiar back.
She tried to get up, but her muscles ached all over, so she just
leaned against the headboard and stopped moving.
Terrence seemed to realize she was awake, turned his head to
look over, and through the glass partition of the window,
Terrence’s eyes looked dark and hard to read.
After a moment, he looked away. The sandwich in the pan was
done. He turned off the heat, put it on a plate, and cut it into
even little pieces with a knife.
Took the cooked bird’s nest out of the pot, put them all on a tray,
and brought them out.
He walked with a steady, graceful step. There was a blue
stubble on his sharp chin. His shirt, which used to be perfectly

neat, wasn’t so smooth anymore, and there were some dark
bloodstains on his stomach.
He put the tray on the nightstand, bent down to pick up the
pillow next to Bethany, supported her back, and put the pillow
behind her waist.
Everything that happened in front of her, Bethany pretty much
showed no expression.
No matter how gentle he was, she didn’t feel anything anymore.
His wound split open, she wouldn’t feel sorry for him anymore.
His beard grew out, she didn’t have to worry about changing his
razor blades for him.
