Chapter 126
On the way to his company, Landon wondered, “Who was that mysterious buyer? He must have great discernment, but he didn’t dare to show his face to
Walter. What was he afraid of?”
“Mr. Kingsley, Carlo left Pinecrest years ago. According to our investigation, he’s now the leader of a gang. He’s currently on vacation abroad, and I can’t reach him,” Aaron reported.
The leader of a gang? Landon’s eyebrows furrowed as things became complicated. “Aaron, keep an eye on him.”
“Got you!” Aaron replied.
At the Kingsley Group, Amelia found Landon absent when she raised her head behind a pile of documents.
“Again, he left to have a good time, and let me toil here,” Amelia sighed. Then, she picked up another document. How pathetic that her lover became her boss!
“Amy.” Gloria arrived.
Amelia quickly set aside her work and stood up. “Gloria, what brings you here?”
“Come, I am taking you somewhere,” Gloria said with a mysterious smile, and there was kindness on her once–pretty face.
“Where?”
“You’ll soon know.” Gloria decisively pulled Amelia away.
“Aaron, Landon isn’t here, so I need to give him a call first…”
“No. You don’t have to.”
Amelia felt speechless. The limo stopped in a shabby alley while Amelia thought that Gloria wanted to do some shopping.
After one glance, at the signboard at the door, Amelia failed to force a smile as her heart sank. “Gloria…”
“Amy, Dr. Jaden Cameron is an outstanding doctor. He is an expert on sterility. Let him check on you first.” With a pang of unease, Gloria had a benign
smile on her face.
According to the news from Elaine, Amelia’s case was incurable. Gloria was stubborn and didn’t believe that her dear daughter–in–law was sterile.
Amelia’s smile froze. “Gloria, you know, don’t you?”
“Yes.” Gloria held Amelia’s hand. “Don’t worry. I am here with you. Be patient. You will be cured.”
Again, despair got Amelia. Gloria didn’t mean ill, but Amelia couldn’t bear children anyway.
“Come in, Amy.” Gloria pulled Amelia into the small clinic.
Jaden was more than 70 years old, and both his hair and beard were gray. He looked benign.
“Dr. Cameron, this is my daughter–in–law. Please help her.” Speaking, Gloria pushed Amelia into a chair.
Amelia forced a polite smile and said, “Dr. Cameron.” Jaden checked on Amelia. Soon, his eyebrows furrowed.
Gloria’s heart tightened with agitation. The smile disappeared from Gloria’s face. “Dr. Cameron, how is she?”

I’m sorry that there is nothing I can do.” Jaden shook his head. “The poison is so strong that only its maker may detoxly har
“Oh..” Gloria couldn’t help but sigh with disappointment, and her sigh distressed Amelia greatly.
Amelia managed to force a faint smile. “Thanks, Dr. Cameron.”
“Take it easy. Given advanced technology nowadays, there are other options,” Jaden said.
Clutching her chest, Gloria asked, “Dr. Cameron, what about IVF?”
“No.” Jaden shook his head. “Her womb is too weak for
Gloria was on the verge of tears. “Oh, my poor Amy!”
Amelia’s throat constricted. Yes, how pathetic Amelia was! She had a miserable past. Now, she found her love, but she couldn’t bear children.
She felt guilty before Gloria even if Landon didn’t mind.
Back in the car, Gloria forced a smile and comforted Amelia, “Don’t worry, dear. We’ll find other experts.”
“No, Gloria.” Amelia lowered her head. “Just tell me if you mind…”
Gloria fell silent. Of course, she minded. Her daughter had been missing for years, and she didn’t know whether her daughter was still alive.
In other words, she had only one child now. She was anxious
to have
grandchildren.
She couldn’t drive Amelia away because the Kingsley family held accountable for Amelia’s sterility. The only solution for her was to find a good doctor to cure Amelia.
“Amy, I like you, so don’t give up, okay?” Gloria pleaded.
“Gloria, my case is hopeless…”
“You will never know unless you try. For my sake, don’t give up, okay? I will look some good doctors for you. Don’t worry.”
“Gloria…”
“Amy, I like you very much.” Gloria sobbed. “In fact, I have a daughter, but Kayla…”
Amelia was astounded because Gloria took the initiative to talk about Kayla.
A–A
“Kayla is missing… I don’t know whether she is still alive… I see you as my daughter after you marry into the Kingsley family…” Gloria said.
That was why Gloria was so nice to Amelia.
“Gloria, you have my word that I won’t give up.” Moved, Amelia embraced Gloria.
“My good girl…” Gloria held Amelia, and tears streamed down their faces.
Back in his office, Landon found Amelia’s eyes réd and swollen. Instantly, his face darkened. “Honey, what happened?”
“Nothing.” Amelia shook her head with a gentle smile, and her gaze was as soft as the spring water. She felt grateful that she had a good husband and a great mother–in–law.”
