“Yeah,” Amelia answered. She then revealed the will to Daniel.

Daniel’s chest began to pound. “Amy,” he said firmly, “Don’t worry. I swear I’ll find William!”

Amelia nodded. “I promised his wife I’d bring him back safe and sound. But someone is trying to stop me from seeing him”

“Do you know who that person is?” Daniel frowned.

Amelia shook her head, “I don’t know. Zachary knew something, but just as I was pressing him for answers, he was shot dead.” Someone seemed to deliberately keep Amelia from seeing William.

‘But none of this ever happened in the past!‘ She thought.

Amelia and Landon had yet to uncover who had been pulling the strings. The mastermind knew how to always be one step ahead.

“I’ll take over from now on,” Daniel said, his face. stern as he looked around. His commanding presence was unlike most businessmen,

Amelia shot Landon a worried look. However, he gave her a reassuring smile. “Well then, we’re much obliged to you, Daniel.”

Hearing that, Daniel shot Landon a sideways look of disapproval. He was somewhat annoyed by how Landon called him. Daniel sneered. “Mainly, it’s because you’re not quite up to it physically.”

Landon fell silent, clearly stung by Daniel’s blunt remark.

“Daniel, please don’t say that,” Amelia said quickly.

“Did I say something wrong?” Daniel challenged. “His legs aren’t working right.”

Amelia was speechless. She sighed inwardly. ‘That’s a tough blow!‘

“Don’t worry, Daniel. I’ll recover just fine,” Landon said, eyeing Daniel with a thoughtful expression.

‘Look at that guy,‘ Landon thought sarcastically. ‘I had just joined his family, and he’s already trying to put me in place? Imagine what he’ll do in the long

run.

‘What if I never recover? Is he going to find Amy a new husband?‘ Landon thought wryly.

“Let’s go. I’ll take you home,” Daniel said, already heading out.

Landon looked down at his legs, barely resisting the urge to stand up. Meanwhile, Amelia thought he was upset and gently comforted him, “Honey, don’t be upset. I know you’ll get better!”

“Are you sure about that?” Landon looked up at Amelia, his eyes full of sorrow.

Landon’s sorrowful gaze made Amelia’s heart ache. She nodded firmly. “Of course. You’ve always been full of miracles!”

He asked softly, “But, honey, what if I can never walk again? Would you leave me?” Landon’s voice dropped, heavy with the weight of Daniel’s blow.

He then voiced his thoughts, “If even my wife can’t stand me, what’s the point of living?”

Amelia was startled. She said emphatically. “What makes you say that?”

“Talk is cheap. I’m recording this,” Landon said, pulling out his phone and opening the voice recording app. Then, with a playful yet insistent tone, he asked, “Amy, would you ever leave me?”

Amelia replied firmly, “I’ll never leave you!”

Chapter 139

Landon asked softly, “Promise me you won’t ever get tired of me, Amy?”

Amelia said firmly, “Yes, absolutely. I promise!”

A mischievous grin flashed in Landon’s eyes as he put away his phone, feeling quite pleased with himself. Meanwhile, Amalia was blissfully unwwere she’d just fallen for Landon’s little trick.

It wasn’t until years later, during an argument that brought them to the brink of divorce, that Landon pulled out the voice recording Only then did Amelia realize she was duped.

Landon had been scheming against her from the start. At that moment, all Amelia cared about was Landon’s fragile pride.

After leaving the police station, Amelia made a point of seeking out Daniel for a private talk. “Daniel, could you be a bit more tactful when speaking to him? Don’t provoke him.”

“Provoke him? You mean that guy?” Daniel let out a derisive laugh.

Daniel was fearless of a douchebag like Landon. He no

strongly suspected that Landon was putting on a pitiful act to manipulate his sister’s feelings.

“Daniel,” Amelia sighed, her eyes filled with heartache for Landon. “I’ve witnessed every bit of progress he’s made along the way. It’s been tough for

him.”

Daniel scoffed. “Amy, you’re too naive.” He paused, then added with a meaningful look, “Kind–hearted people like you are easy prey for deception.”

Amelia’s heart skipped a beat, but she soon composed hers

“Daniel,” she said calmly, “I’m not as naive as you think.”

Amelia was no longer blindly kind after everything she’d been through. She had learned to set boundaries.

‘If Landon ever betrays me,‘ Amelia thought, ‘I won’t foolishly walk away without carrying anything like I did back then.

‘At the very least, I’ll take half of his company.‘ Amelia thought with a determined huff.

“Amy,” Daniel said solemnly, “No matter what you’ve been through in the past, you’ll never be alone again. I’ll always protect you.”

After a moment’s thought, Daniel pulled out his Black Card and pressed it into Amelia’s hand. “This is my Black Card, no spending limit. Use it however you want.”

“Huh?” Amelia was dumbfounded.

‘My mother–in–law keeps handing me cards, and my husband casually gives me unlimited allowances.‘ she thought. ‘Now that I’ve got a brother, he’s doing the same thing too!‘

Amelia held the card with mixed feelings, a little taken aback by Daniel’s gesture. “But, we don’t even have the same dad,” she said hesitantly.

Daniel said solemnly, “Sharing the same mother is more than enough for me.”

Amelia felt warmth in her heart as she finally accepted the Black Card, her worries melting away. She couldn’t believe it. Her childhood wish of having big brother had come true.

After bidding Daniel farewell, Amelia happily hummed and skipped back to the Maybach, feeling on top of the world. Meanwhile, Landon shot her a jealous look and said, “You’re in such a good mood, huh?”

‘Amelia never hummed like this before,‘ Landon thought bitterly.

“Ta–da!” Amelia proudly presented the Black Card with a bright face, her chin held high. “My brother gave it to me!”

“Hmph!” Landon scoffed. He then snorted dismissively. “As if you’re short of money.”

“Says who?” Amelia asked, carefully tucking the card away in her wallet as if it were a treasure.

Landon’s face instantly darkened. “Are you short on cash? What about that hundreds of millions just sitting in your bank arm

“That money? So what? Why are you complaining because I have too much money? I’m not complaining.” Amelia Rurmed with a playful grins.

This was the first time Daniel spoiled Amelia, and she felt incredible. However, Landon fell silent.

Aaron, fearing his boss might impulsively give away the company in a fit of anger, quickly asked, “Mr. Kingsley, where to next?”

“Back to the office.” Landon sat with a deep frown, sulking the entire ride. In contrast, Amelia hummed a cheerful tune.

It wasn’t until Landon finally asked, “How much longer until we go see the property in Stonefield?”
