Justin's frown deepened. He looked away. "Angie, I'm sorry."
Her tears suddenly fell. "Justin, I don't want you to apologize to me. I only want you to try to understand me, with the other half's purpose. Is that okay?"
Justin looked at her for a long time and handed her a tissue. "Angie, I think I've lost the ability to love someone. It's not fair to you to be with me."
"How do you know it's unfair to me?"
Justin looked at her deeply. Angie couldn't see any pity in his gentle eyes. He still said, "Angie, I'm sorry. I don't like you."
"I know you don't like me, but you can try to like me..."
"Angie, you told me not to be obsessed with Grace. Why are you obsessed with me? You have many excellent suitors around you. Why can't you try to accept others? I can't give you happiness."
Angie closed her eyes in pain. "Justin, you're so cruel."
Justin took a deep breath and said, "Angie, just pretend I didn't come today."
Angie watched as he turned around and left. Tears streamed down her face.
'Am I going to let go? No, it has been five years. I can't accept it. We just made it clear today. Perhaps if I work harder, I can let him see me,' Angie thought.
*****
Justin didn't take Angie's confession to heart. When he returned to the hospital, he went to work as usual and repeated his boring life.
In the morning, he received a call from Zachary.
The phone rang several times before he picked it up. He asked coldly, "What's the matter?"
Irritated, he tossed the phone onto the table and tried to think of a way to deal with the evening.
At this moment, there was a knock on the door.
He looked up and saw Serena standing at the door. She was wearing a long pink gown. She tilted her head and smiled at him. "Dr. Vance, can I come in?"
Justin smiled. "Why are you here?"
Serena walked briskly into the office and placed the bag in her hand on the table. "I came to see where you work. I didn't know what to buy for you, so I brought you a bento. Oh no, I forgot to ask if you had a lunch date."
Justin smiled and took the lunch bag from her hand. "No, even if I have an appointment, I must reject it when you've brought me food. Right, Dr. Logan?"
Serena smiled. "Really? When did I become that important?"
