The guard at the entrance stopped me, his tone polite but distant: “Ma’am, may I ask what business brings you here?”
I said: “I’m here to see Alpha Ferris. I have a document that needs his signature.”
He asked again: “Do you have an appointment?”
I paused: “No.”
“Then I’m sorry, we cannot let you in.”
I didn’t back down, saying calmly: “Please inform him that Aurora is here. He’ll see me.”
He looked at me, finally nodded, and went inside to report.
I stood in place, pulling my coat tighter. The temperature had dropped sharply, the sky was overcast, as if it might snow at any moment.
A few minutes later, the guard returned, his eyes showing hesitation and apology: “The Alpha says he’s very busy right now and has no time to see you. If you truly have the sincerity to apologize and are willing to wait for him, he’ll consider receiving you.”
Apologize?
I laughed mockingly. He actually thought I was here to apologize to him?
I said calmly: “I can wait, but at least let me wait in the lobby.”
the guard’s eyes showed even more regret: “I’m sorry, ma’am. Alpha Ferris said to have you wait outside–that’s how he can see your sincerity. Of course, you’re
ree to leave anytime, but then you won’t be able to see him.”

t was Beta Simon. He leaned against the door, sneering, his voice carrying its usual arrogance and harshness:
Well, well, after acting so resolute for so long, you still can’t bear to leave our Alpha? What’s this–realized you went too far and want to come back?”
Miss Aurora, why put yourself through this?”
looked at him and asked back: “What do you mean ‘put myself through this? What did I do wrong?”
“I think you should live a good life with Alpha Ferris instead of doing things beneath your status for other men.”
If others knew you were entangled with other werewolves, what would happen to Alpha Ferris’s reputation?”
