"Yeah." Tyler nodded, signaling he'd already confirmed.
He watched the Donovan Group's people disappear down the drive, but made no move to get in the car.
The Bugatti Centodieci sat quietly by the curb. Tyler glanced at the crowd of reporters in the distance, held at bay by Donovan Group's security team, before lowering his gaze with a hint of weariness.
His lips pressed into a thin line as he pulled out his phone.
On the messaging screen, his long fingers scrolled through a cascade of notifications, searching for something in particular.
He finally found Emilia's chat.
Unlike the other conversations, which flashed with new messages, this one was silent—no new notifications, no words from her.
She still hadn't reached out.
"Tyler?" Vivienne's voice called softly.
He hadn't noticed when she'd stepped out of the car. Now she stood by the passenger door, looking fragile, her pale face turned up to him.
"Is there a problem with the auction item?" Vivienne asked, a gentle smile on her lips.
Tyler slipped his phone away and shook his head, then hefted the safe and climbed back into the car.
"I'll drive you home," he said.
"Alright," Vivienne replied, still smiling.
The Bugatti wound its way down the mountainside; every car along the route seemed to melt out of the way.
Tyler's expression never changed—calm, unreadable as always. Yet, as they sped along, he thought he could hear the distant drone of helicopter blades echoing in his ears.
……
The crowds slowly filtered out of Hillside Manor, leaving the once-bustling estate eerily still.
The chatter went on, while the bookies just grinned.
These bets were pocket change to them, but pocket change well-earned was still worth celebrating.
More importantly, tonight, the Masked Woman had left an indelible impression on the city's most powerful circles.
If she hadn't already been signed to Donovan Entertainment, they'd be fighting to recruit her.
But even though Donovan Entertainment was just one of Christian's businesses, the Donovan Group itself was one of Alden City's three great powerhouses; no one was foolish enough to think they could offer her a better deal.
All this gossip circulated quietly within the world of the elite.
Meanwhile, any reports from inside the villa would need to clear multiple rounds of vetting before they could go public.
Online, though, two hashtags were already dominating the trending charts—#TylerIgnitesTheSkyForVivienne# and, right behind it, #VivienneFaintsFromCharityWork#.
There were pictures: a sky ablaze with drone lanterns and fireworks above the villa, and, below, the moment Vivienne collapsed after her speech, Tyler catching her in his arms for all to see.
