Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 216

[Serena, I already gave you a chance.]

[Everything you’ve accomplished so far was just luck. Did you really think I couldn’t deal with you? Beg me. If you beg, maybe I’ll help you clean up this mess.]

The message was from Vivienne.

Christian leaned over to take a look and immediately let out a string of colorful curses.

Joyce and Seven joined in, their voices filling the living room with a chorus of outrage and disbelief.

Emilia tightened her grip on her phone.

Vivienne’s relentless threats and smug arrogance—was Emilia really supposed to just sit back and pray for a miracle?

No.

She had to do something.

Images flickered through her mind: her father’s eyes, wide and unyielding, refusing to close on that gray, overcast day; the memory of a rain-soaked night, a blurry-faced boy shielding her with nothing but a broken piece of wood; and… the child she’d lost.

She had to take control of her own life.

She was done being powerless.

Her nails dug into her palm, the sharp pain grounding her, clearing her thoughts.

The divorce papers could wait a few more days.

Right now, the most pressing matter was handling the fallout from the show.

Two things mattered most:

First, would the show suddenly get shut down?

Second, would the sponsors try to force her out?

When Emilia opened her eyes again, they were filled with determination.

First of all, she wouldn’t quit on her own.

If the sponsors all demanded she leave, could she buy herself some time?

Just then, Christian’s phone buzzed again.

It was Alexander Donovan calling.

This time, Christian didn’t dare ignore it.

“Come home. Now.” Alexander’s voice was gravelly and stern, leaving no room for argument. “Hurry up!”

Clearly, the other sponsors couldn’t reach Christian, so they’d gone straight to Alexander.

“Yes, Grandpa, I’ll be right there.” Christian ended the call, grabbed his car keys, and addressed the group. “I’ll video call you from my other phone. I need to head over to the old man’s place.”

Everyone nodded their understanding.

Christian rushed out the door.

Once Christian reassured Alexander, the Donovan family could step in and keep the sponsors at bay—at least for now.

That just left the matter of the show’s internal review.
