Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 218

As a professional caregiver, she’d looked after plenty of powerful people and knew how the world worked. Every major corporation protected its interests with prenuptial agreements—splitting assets clearly before anyone said “I do.” Tyler’s wife hadn’t come from any sort of influential background, so there was no way this divorce would turn into some headline-grabbing, multimillion-dollar scandal. She saw no need to mention it further.

Meanwhile, Tyler sat alone in the backseat of his car.

He pulled out his phone and dialed Secretary Jensen.

“Mr. Erickson.” Jensen answered instantly.

“There’s something I need you to handle,” Tyler said, his tone brisk as he outlined the details.

“Yes, Mr. Erickson. I’ll prepare the documents right away,” Jensen replied.

Tyler ended the call and fell silent, staring out the window.

“Mr. Erickson, where to now?” the driver asked.

“Just drive around for a bit,” Tyler said quietly.

He had nowhere in mind. He didn’t want to go back to his apartment. Hillside Manor—no point returning there either. Emilia had already moved out, and all that would greet him was a cold, empty house that no longer felt like home.

Lunar Manor was out of the question; his grandparents didn’t want to see him.

He wasn’t welcome at Emilia’s new place, either.

Tyler gazed out at the city lights, just as dazzling and restless as they’d always been. Streams of cars flowed along the avenues, headlights weaving ribbons of light through the night.

This city was vast, and everyone said the Erickson Group stood at the top of Alden City’s “big three.” Tyler himself was supposed to be the man at the summit of it all.

Yet at this moment, all he felt was that he had nowhere to belong.

What was wrong with him?

He slumped back against the seat, rubbing his brow, exhaustion and confusion weighing him down.

The driver circled the city aimlessly as Tyler stared blankly out the window, watching the endless parade of shops and storefronts pass by.

They arrived at the orphanage quickly. Tyler spoke to the director, explained himself, and was granted permission to visit—but only in the designated area.

After a short wait, Bella appeared, clutching her floppy-eared dog plushie.

When she saw Tyler, she said nothing, simply walking over to sit quietly on a bench.

For a long moment, Tyler had no idea what to say. Silence hung between them.

Finally, he spoke. “I brought you something.”

He showed her the dresses.

Bella glanced at them. “Thank you, sir, but I don’t need them,” she replied politely.

Tyler didn’t seem bothered. He set the dresses aside and brought out the backpack and art supplies.

“I saw you drawing at school last time,” he said, laying the items out on the table. “You’re really talented.”
