Emilia gazed up at the stars, thinking for a moment before she spoke. “It’s nothing serious. Some things, though, have to come from him.”
Just like before—he was the one who led her to kneel at the old man’s hospital bed. Now, it had to be him who spoke first.
“I’m a bit tired. I’m going to bed.” Emilia didn’t give the two on the other end a chance to ask more. She said goodnight and ended the call.
As the call screen faded, Emilia let out a long sigh of relief.
With that conversation over, she could finally rest.
But before she lay down, her phone buzzed with a new message.
She tapped it open. A video popped up: a cat doing a backward somersault.
Beneath it, a line of text read—“My cat can do backflips.”
“Childish,” Emilia muttered with a smile, tossing the phone aside as she settled into bed.
Meanwhile, at Glenn Manor—
George was teasing Theodore Glenn’s ragdoll cat.
“A backflipping ragdoll—impressive!” George nodded in approval and handed the little cat a treat.
“Come on, one more time! Do that ‘turn the tables!’ trick, let’s go!” George continued trying to train the cat.
But the kitten had lost interest. It sauntered over, stretched, and leapt straight into Theodore Glenn’s arms.
Theodore chuckled, scratching the kitten’s chin, and the cat purred in contentment.
…
The next couple of days brought their own share of drama.
First, rumors about Emilia and Tyler lingered online overnight.
But by the next morning, a new headline had taken over.
Vivienne, under her online alias Faint Whispers, released an edited trailer for a new micro-drama.
