Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 288

Everyone’s eyes were fixed on the woman standing center stage—including Vivienne’s.

If Wyatt had been the only one to sense unease a moment ago, now Vivienne felt it too.

There was something hauntingly familiar about this Masked Woman, something Vivienne couldn’t quite place.

Emilia kept moving gracefully, her body swaying to music only she could hear. As the mask covering her face was slowly peeled away, she glanced toward the distant audience, locking eyes with Tyler.

Through the remaining slits of her mask, she saw the way Tyler’s brow furrowed, a flicker of confusion darkening his gaze.

A sly smile curled on Emilia’s lips.

It was time.

Time to end it all.

She lowered her gaze, raising her right hand.

A sharp metallic ring echoed through the hall—another chisel chipping away at the plaster.

A chunk of the mask fractured, white dust swirling in the air before drifting away.

Tyler’s eyes narrowed suddenly, as if some impossible truth had just occurred to him.

Now, only a sliver of plaster remained on the woman’s face.

The audience stirred; the tension was palpable.

Tyler pressed his lips into a thin line, his gaze locked on the woman on stage. He looked both disbelieving and desperate for confirmation.

The woman made no further move for a heartbeat. Then, with her head bowed, she swept her right hand gently across her cheek.

In that instant, everyone saw the final piece of the mask fall away.

A gust of wind swept across the stage, tousling her hair. As she lifted her head, long dark locks cascaded over her shoulders, her uncovered face revealed at last to the entire hall.

In the audience, Tyler shot to his feet, staring at her in utter disbelief.

A wave of shrieks rippled through the crowd.

“Emilia?”

It was too much to believe—too outrageous, too absurd.

“I don’t believe it! No way, this has to be fake!”

The hall erupted in chaos, voices shouting, disbelief and hysteria swirling in the air.

At the back of the room, Christian watched Emilia on stage. He smiled, turning to Wyatt, whose face was frozen in terror.

“See? Miracles do happen,” Christian said softly, almost amused.

Wyatt, meanwhile, was staring at Emilia, his eyes wide with shock, as if refusing to trust what he saw. He checked again and again, only to find the same devastating truth.

Finally, stiff with fear, Wyatt turned to Christian, his eyes full of terror.

All around them, the screams continued, and every eye in the room was fixed on Vivienne and, across the hall, on Tyler in his secluded seat.

Vivienne was frozen, stunned.

She’d gotten a message from Wyatt earlier, and a sick dread had crept into her gut. But now, confronted with the truth unfolding before her, she simply couldn’t believe what her own eyes were seeing.
