Emilia didn’t think it would be that simple.
Vivienne had always been a master at public relations, but this time, Emilia wasn’t sure how she’d wriggle out of it.
Christian was already hurrying toward them when, in the crowd gathered around Vivienne, someone suddenly screamed—
“Vivienne, you homewrecker! How could you destroy someone’s marriage and torment the real wife? Have you no shame?”
“Yeah! Don’t even think about running—face us and explain yourself!”
“Speak up! Apologize, Vivienne!”
The outrage was relentless. The more carefully Vivienne had crafted her image, the more violently it was now unraveling.
Many of her former supporters felt utterly betrayed. Their anger outstripped even those who’d never liked her in the first place.
Of course, there were still people online rooting for Vivienne, convinced she was just misunderstood. But none of those fans were showing up here.
Everyone present was furious, and they wanted her to know it.
“This is just too satisfying!” Cindy said with a triumphant laugh, pumping her fist. “Serves her right!”
The van dipped as Christian climbed in, breathless.
Cindy was still craning her neck, trying to catch another glimpse.
Emilia couldn’t help but laugh at her eagerness.
“Alright, let’s close up and get going,” Emilia said. “If we wait any longer, we’ll never get out of here.”
Cindy gave the scene one last longing look, but she knew Emilia was right. With a resigned sigh, she finally slid the door shut.
The car started and pulled away from the chaos.
Just before they rounded the corner, Emilia glanced one last time out the window at Vivienne, still trapped in the middle of that angry mob.
“Is something wrong?” Christian caught Emilia’s look and asked.
“Vivienne, there are rumors you broke up Tyler and Emilia’s marriage. What do you have to say for yourself?”
“Vivienne, some say you deliberately targeted Serena during Voice of the Divine. Is that true?”
“Vivienne, what’s really going on between you and Tyler? Did you interfere in his marriage?”
Every question was sharper than the last. Vivienne wanted to escape, but she was surrounded on all sides—unless someone cleared a path, she wasn’t going anywhere.
Inside, she was fuming, but on the surface, she looked shattered.
Eyes red, voice trembling, she said, “I didn’t know Serena was Emilia.”
Tears streamed down her cheeks. “And I am not a homewrecker.”
She looked heartbreakingly vulnerable.
But from the crowd, someone shouted, “We’re not Tyler, Vivienne—quit the act and save your tears for someone who cares!”
