Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 313

But as Emilia reached the doorway to Joyce’s office, she saw that it wasn’t Joyce standing beside Bella.

It was Theodore.

Both of them had their backs to her.

Bella was perched on a small step stool, staring intently at something on the desk. Theodore stood next to her, pen in hand, occasionally smiling and explaining something to her.

“Mr. Theodore, does the kitten really look like this?” Bella asked, pointing to something on the desk, her voice bright and clear.

Theodore smiled and nodded. “She’s at my house right now. Whenever Miss Emilia says it’s okay, I’ll bring her over to play with you—or maybe you can come visit her.”

Bella nodded enthusiastically, then looked a little troubled. “Mr. Theodore, your hand is so steady. When I draw, my lines always end up crooked.”

“When I was your age, I had the same problem,” Theodore replied gently. “I used to practice painting as a boy. I just couldn’t get the hang of it at first, and I even cried about it in secret.”

He smiled at Bella, his tone warm and encouraging. “But then I decided to really focus and practice a little every day. Bit by bit, I got better, until one day, it finally clicked.”

“Really?” Bella’s eyes sparkled with excitement.

Theodore nodded again, then took her small hand in his, guiding her gently.

“See? Like this. Doesn’t that feel easier?” he asked softly.

“It really does!” Bella grinned, bouncing with happiness.

Theodore reached out instinctively, steadying her with a careful hand so she wouldn’t topple off the stool.

The two shared a smile—a big one and a small one—filling the room with warmth.

Emilia stood there, watching from the doorway.

For a moment, it all felt strangely unreal.

“Miss Emilia!” Bella suddenly spotted her.

She hopped down from the stool and skipped over to Emilia’s side.

Her little face was a mix of anticipation and shyness—absolutely adorable.

She really did seem eager to meet that cat.

The memory of that night, when Theodore had carried the cat to her outside the Donovan Group building, flickered through Emilia’s mind.

“As long as Mr. Theodore agrees, you can,” Emilia replied, cupping Bella’s cheeks in her hands.

“Yay!” Bella immediately turned to Theodore, her eyes full of hope.

Theodore knelt down to meet her gaze. “I’ll bring her over to see you soon. How about that?”

The two of them started discussing possible days and times, their voices overlapping in cheerful negotiation.

They looked perfectly at ease together.

Watching them, Emilia felt a little dazed, as if she were standing just outside a lovely dream.
