Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 345

What would she think if she saw how he handled things?

Tyler couldn’t help but wonder.

But then it struck him—Emilia was far more likely to catch Vivienne’s livestream than anything he’d done…

His headache flared again.

She’d probably laugh at him, wouldn’t she? After all, even the simplest crisis was spiraling out of control the moment she left.

His thoughts drifted back to the nights and days when she was by his side.

Those nights when she’d wake from a nightmare, curl up against his chest, and he’d quietly stroke her back, murmuring comfort until both their hearts calmed.

He missed her.

Missed her so much it hurt.

“Tyler, what are you doing here? Aren’t you getting lunch?” A voice broke through, drawing Tyler out of his haze.

He schooled his features as Chloe happened to walk by.

“How are things going?” Tyler sidestepped her question, changing the subject.

Chloe didn’t look thrilled—her expression was as if she’d just swallowed something bitter.

“The stock price is holding steady for now, but…” She shot Tyler a sidelong glance, leaving the rest unsaid, though the implication was obvious.

Vivienne’s handling of things was a joke—and now their so-called friends were practically lining up to mock her.

“Things were better when Emilia was around,” someone muttered nearby, loud enough for Chloe to hear, echoing exactly what she was thinking.

She refused to admit it, though, and brusquely waved the person away.

By the time she turned back, Tyler had disappeared.

After wandering the halls, Tyler only felt worse.

He returned to his office, glanced at the lunch laid out on his desk, and lost his appetite. He waved it away. “Take it back, please.”

Secretary Jensen gave him a conspiratorial smile. “Of course, Mr. Erickson.”

“Yes, that’s exactly the flavor!” she said with mock solemnity. “If your family’s chef ever leaves, you have to let me know first.”

Felix’s eyes softened at her delight. “Deal.”

As Emilia ate happily, Felix went on, “A little over a month from now, there’s an academic conference in Solmaris. I’ll be heading out there.”

Emilia paused, waiting for him to continue.

“Just as you heard from Christian, I’ve discreetly asked some friends in Solmaris about Vivienne. But the medical facility she’s in takes patient confidentiality very seriously—they won’t give out any information.”

He added, “When I’m there for the conference, I’ll ask around in person, maybe even visit the place and see if I can dig up anything.”

Emilia looked at him with genuine gratitude.

She’d grown up playing with Joyce McCarthy; Felix had practically watched her grow up.

He’d always looked out for her. With no older brother of her own, she’d always regarded Felix as family.

“Thank you, Felix,” Emilia said earnestly.

“No need for thanks,” Felix replied, giving her hair a gentle, brotherly ruffle.
