Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 398

The little island was buzzing with excitement.

This time, anyone could come—there weren’t any restrictions on who could attend—but the event did require everyone to dress in themed attire. That just made the place even more popular, drawing in crowds of people.

With so many guests, it didn’t take long before a few sharp-eyed onlookers noticed the meaning behind the island’s elaborate light displays. Someone even managed to capture Theodore’s earlier magic trick for Emilia on video, and now it was making the rounds online.

People watched, awestruck.

“So, all this fuss on the island lately—was it really just Theodore pulling out all the stops to make Emilia happy? That’s insanely romantic.”

“Am I the only one curious how he pulled off those tricks? I want to learn for my girlfriend!”

“Count me in, I want to learn too!”

As the comments flooded in, Raymond caught sight of the video as well.

He was in the middle of dinner when it popped up on his phone. He nearly spit out his soup in shock.

“Theodore, you crafty, big-eyed fox! Pulling this kind of stunt?” Raymond dropped his spoon and cursed under his breath. “He looks like such a straight-laced scholar, but he’s really a sly fox—sweet-talking Emilia and pulling out all the magic tricks!”

Raymond was fuming. He’d been planning his own romantic gestures—after all, Cerulion was known as the city of love—but Theodore had beaten him to the punch. The memory of Theodore forcibly returning that wooden fox carving still stung.

“Enough! I have to do something!” Raymond muttered. He stormed upstairs, changed into something sharp, and hurried out the door, determined to make his own move.

Elsewhere, Tyler had seen the video too.

He’d just walked Vivienne home. In fact, Vivienne was the one who’d shown it to him, holding out her phone with a sly smile.

“Tyler,” she said, “looks like Mr. Theodore Glenn is really going all out for Emilia.”

Tyler’s expression soured, but he stayed silent.

Emilia laughed, unable to resist teasing him. “You know, this is starting to remind me of those old palace dramas—where the emperor’s belt is covered in fragrance pouches from all the concubines.”

Theodore chuckled. “Well, if you’re the emperor, just consider me one of your ladies-in-waiting.”

She blinked in surprise, then saw him lift a finger. “But I get first place. I’m your queen.”

She couldn’t help rolling her eyes, which only made Theodore laugh harder.

They both knew it was all in good fun.

They wandered on, and soon Theodore led Emilia to a small stand lined with stones.

“Watch this,” he said, picking up a curious object and setting it atop one of the stones.

Suddenly, the stone flared to life, burning with a brilliant mix of blue and gold—a mysterious, beautiful glow that lit up the evening air.
