Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 407

But all of that shattered the moment she met his gaze—calm, steady, and utterly unmoved.

“I’m not trying to hurt you,” Emilia said quietly. “I just don’t love you anymore.”

“You…”

“Tyler, I’m not the kind of person who looks back,” she went on, her voice even and resolute. “The second you chose Vivienne, we were over. Signing the divorce papers was just a formality.”

She didn’t deny that she’d loved him.

But now, there was nothing left for him in her heart.

“Tyler.” She looked at him one last time, her eyes serious and clear. “There’s no going back for us.”

“I think that’s all there is to say.” Emilia’s gaze dropped; her lashes cast tiny shadows on her cheeks. “I’ve made myself clear. Please don’t come looking for me anymore. It’s exhausting.”

With that, Emilia gave Theodore a slight nod and started toward his Bentley.

But Tyler caught her wrist again.

His eyes were rimmed red, and she could see the shimmer of tears gathering.

“Emilia.” He said her name like it was the only thing he had left. “You’re lying, aren’t you?”

“We’ve been together for so many years…”

“We made it through so much—through every storm, every hardship.”

His brow was knit tight, lips pale; there was a desperate edge to his voice, as if pleading with her.

“We’ve been through life and death together. You can’t just—”

Emilia tried to pull free, but his grip was iron and she couldn’t shake him off.

Looking at him now, she wondered why he bothered.

After all, he was the one who’d broken their vows first.

“What do you want me to say to make you believe me?” she asked, exasperated.

But he only stared at her, eyes red, refusing to let go.

Emilia understood. He was afraid she was saying this just to spite Tyler.

But that wasn’t it, and she would make sure he knew.

Back in the studio, her heart had been stirred by him, moved in ways she hadn’t expected. But after all the time she’d just spent at Glenn Manor, she’d had more than enough space to find her clarity.

“It’s true,” she said softly. “I care about you. You move me.”

Before Theodore could say a word, Emilia stepped forward, closing the distance between them.

With her free hand, the one Tyler hadn’t trapped, she reached up and looped her arms around Theodore’s neck. Rising up on tiptoe, she pressed her lips gently to his.

It was only a brief kiss, but when she pulled away, a faint blush colored her cheeks.

Theodore’s whole body shuddered.

In the next instant, he wrapped his arms around her waist, holding her so tightly she could feel the heat of him through her clothes—as if he wanted to draw her into himself and never let go.

Meanwhile, her other wrist ached from Tyler’s grip, pain radiating up her arm.
