Vivienne carried the vase across the polished wooden floor of Hillside Manor, setting it on the table as the livestream camera followed her every move.
The entire master bedroom came into view on the screen.
Sunlight flooded in through towering floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a gentle glow and framing a breathtaking view of rolling hills. Along one wall, a row of open wardrobes revealed nothing but an array of cool-toned men’s suits—expensive, immaculate, and undeniably masculine. There wasn’t a single trace of women’s clothing.
Yet, the empty space beside the suits was impossible to miss. It was obvious that, until recently, someone else’s things had been hanging there—someone who’d taken everything with her when she left.
Against the far wall stood a king-sized bed, its plush gray duvet inviting, its significance unmistakable. Everyone watching knew: this was Emilia and Tyler’s marriage bed.
Beside the bed, a nightstand stood quietly. Atop it sat a single bottle of perfume.
Vivienne, still holding the vase, walked over to the nightstand. “Maybe I’ll just put these here,” she murmured, as if genuinely considering the best spot for her bouquet.
Her assistant hurried closer with the camera, snapping photos of the nightstand.
“Chanel No. 5,” Vivienne noted, picking up the perfume bottle. The irony wasn’t lost on her: the woman who’d stolen Emilia’s husband was now wearing Emilia’s perfume, lying in Emilia’s bed, in what used to be Emilia’s room.
As Vivienne pondered this, she noticed the top drawer of the nightstand was slightly ajar, as if someone had opened it and forgotten to close it properly.
She’d snuck in discreetly today; her team had only unlocked the door in advance to prevent Tyler from changing the code. No one had paid attention to what might be in the nightstand.
“What’s this?” Vivienne said aloud, catching her assistant’s attention, the livestream camera zooming in on the drawer.
Urged on by a flood of excited comments, Vivienne grasped the handle and pulled the drawer all the way open.
The camera broadcast the entire contents live.
Inside, there was only a single piece of paper.
On it, written in neat handwriting:
**I’m returning the wedding ring. I’m leaving.**
Signed: Emilia, dated nearly two months ago, the day she walked out.
This was the note Tyler had missed on the day his world fell apart—a note that had waited, undisturbed, in the nightstand ever since. There were faint indentations on the paper, where a ring had rested for some time.
Vivienne spun around, the camera swinging wildly with her.
Secretary Jensen and Owen burst in, trailed by a crowd of staff.
Secretary Jensen strode directly toward her, eyes locked on the camera. Without hesitation, he seized the livestream device and cut the feed.
Viewers at home never saw what happened next—they saw Secretary Jensen’s stern face, a blur of motion, and then the screen froze on the image of the note and the perfume on the nightstand.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the Glenn Group’s offices—
As Vivienne crept through the master bedroom, Emilia was already on her way out, phone in hand.
She had already contacted Theodore.
She could see him waiting for her, not far away.
The livestream camera, now following Emilia, bounced slightly with each step as she made her way toward him.
