Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 455

The room fell into a heavy silence after Vivienne spoke.

Tyler’s hand, still gripping the front of Vivienne’s shirt, trembled violently.

Just thinking about what happened a year ago was enough to bring him to the edge of collapse.

When the news reached him and he rushed over—

And when he found out it was Vivienne who’d been there, relief had nearly knocked him off his feet.

Thank God it hadn’t been Emilia. Thank God she was safe.

Vivienne was still crying.

“Tyler, I know I’ve done things that hurt you,” she choked out, tears splashing onto the back of his hand.

“I sent those messages to her because, back then, my mind was twisted.”

She broke down, sobs wracking her frail body.

“Tyler, if you were me, maybe you’d understand. After everything I went through, all I could do was watch the man I loved stay with someone else.”

“I know sending her those messages was wrong, but I couldn’t help myself.”

Vivienne clung to his hand.

“Tyler, tell me—what was I supposed to do?”

“If you were me, wouldn’t you have lost your mind too?”

“I took those hits for her. I lost control, you know that. Even my illness—everything happened because I went crazy.”

Her weeping grew more desperate. Tyler stared at her, his anger and panic building until he thought he might explode.

He no longer knew what he felt for Vivienne.

At first, it was relief.

Then, as he cared for her, it was pity, a sense of duty.

So many nights he’d woken in a cold sweat, haunted by nightmares, only to see Emilia sleeping soundly at his side. That’s how he’d managed to hold himself together.

He’d reassure himself: It’s over. Emilia’s safe. She wasn’t hurt.

He’d honored their deal. Just six months. Vivienne would bury everything with her, and life could go back to how it was.

But only now did he realize, in these chaotic months, how deeply he’d wounded Emilia.

He’d hurt the woman he loved most.

And Vivienne—she wasn’t as harmless as she seemed.

“Tyler, I’m sorry…” Vivienne sobbed in the hospital room.

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have treated her that way.”

“It only happened twice. Once today, because I lost control. The last time was… back when I wasn’t in my right mind. I just… couldn’t help myself.”

She squeezed his hand, her eyes pleading and weak. “Tyler, there are only four months left. Not much time. I’ll be gone soon.”

“When I’m gone, you can still have a good life with her.”

Tyler looked at the crying woman in front of him.

Could he ever truly go back to Emilia?
