Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 77

But Alexander...

He was the ruthless force who built the Donovan Group empire from the ground up.

Emilia knew exactly what kind of man he was.

In Alden City, the Donovan family was one of the three major powerhouses.

Alexander had two daughters and two sons. Christian's father was the second son. The eldest died before he ever had a chance to start a family, and, perhaps feeling inadequate, Christian's father devoted himself to beautiful women—and to fathering children.

Over the years, he'd gone through several wives and fathered three sons, each with a different mother.

Christian's mother had been his father's last wife, joining the family late and giving birth to Christian even later.

Eventually, the old man declared that Christian's father needed to change his ways. After that, he stopped bringing new wives into the family. If he hadn't, Christian might have ended up with even more half-brothers.

Although Christian's two aunts and the other sisters in the family were involved in the Donovan Group's affairs, the real power in The Erickson Group would ultimately be passed down to one of the three sons—Christian and his two brothers.

Because Emilia's show, *Voice of the Divine*, was now tied to Donovan Entertainment, her interests were aligned with Christian's—and he had already helped her more than once. She owed him, and she knew it.

This was her responsibility to handle.

Christian understood where Emilia stood and didn't make a fuss.

"I'll take care of your dress and the gift," he said. "I'll pick you up tomorrow."

He hesitated for a moment, then added seriously, "The moment I kick those two out and take over, you'll have your share of the Donovan Group."

Emilia didn't say yes or no; she simply let him make the arrangements.

"Oh, and the legal department says the cease-and-desist letter from Faint Whispers has been sent."

With that, Christian hurried off.

Emilia nodded.

The letter was a test as much as anything. She was curious to see where Vivienne truly stood.

A sly smile curled on Vivienne's lips as she practiced a frail but alluring smile in the mirror.

"I'll turn this into the biggest spectacle yet. Maybe I'll even drive Emilia up the wall."

"If Emilia sees me standing in the spot that should have been hers, right next to Tyler—will she finally give up, pack her bags, and disappear for good? Ha!"

Vivienne's satisfaction was written all over her face.

Just then, her computer chimed with a new email.

Vivienne frowned, walked over, and opened it.

It was a cease-and-desist letter from Faint Whispers, very clear in its demand: she was to stop all infringing activities immediately.

Her aide, peering over her shoulder, immediately panicked.

"Miss Vivienne, what should we do?"
