Fated To Three, Betrayed By All… Until She Rose novel Chapter 142

The weight of the moment was unbearable.

Zevran.

“SECURITY!”

Those words landed like a punch to my gut, sending shockwaves through my entire being. I recoiled instinctively, as if I had been physically struck, and turned to my brothers, who mirrored my bewilderment with expressions of shock and confusion.

Goddess, this ridiculous scheme was all Caelum’s doing. I had implored him, time and again, about how utterly insane it was to think that bringing gifts to Leilani would somehow mend the rift between us.

And let’s not forget the small detail that she had recently taken us to court.

Yet, he had been unyielding in his conviction.

In his own words, he had declared, “All women love gifts!” And yet, Leilani was the glaring exception to that rule. She always seemed to be an exception!

As I stood there, the memory of her horror-stricken face when she walked into her office and found us there, surrounded by the numerous gifts we had painstakingly gathered, flooded my mind. It was clear then that we had once again overstepped our bounds.

Why couldn’t we ever get it right with her?

My spiraling thoughts were abruptly interrupted when the door swung open mere moments later, and two imposing security guards strode in. Behind them was Leilani, and oh, how breathtaking she was!

Too breathtaking.

Her silver hair flowed like a shimmering waterfall down her slender frame, and her skin glowed radiantly under the harsh office lights. For a fleeting moment, I was convinced that she had been crafted on a Sabbath day, perhaps even on the birthday of the moon goddess herself.

The sight of her tightened my chest, rendering me momentarily breathless. I was utterly transfixed, entranced by the ethereal beauty that was her presence.

Goodness, I felt like a character in a Shakespearean play, lost in the poetry of the moment…

Her sharp voice cut through the air, snapping me back to reality. “They’re Alphas, John, so don’t you dare lay a hand on them. They can take you down, but help them out of my office. And make sure they take their gifts with them.”

One of the security officers turned to her with wide eyes, his surprise almost comical. He didn’t need to utter a single word for us to grasp the full extent of his shock. I stepped forward, wanting to ease his burden, and drawled, “We’ll leave.”

“Please do, Alphas… and your gifts; my lady with you.”

I flashed a cold smile at the guard before shifting my gaze back to Leilani, who stood by the corner, her fingers flying over her phone, completely ignoring us.

Seeing her like this—so distant, so stunning yet utterly unreachable—made my heart ache with an intensity I hadn’t anticipated. I nodded, then turned to my brothers, who, despite the guards’ arrival, remained kneeling in their remorse. I snapped, “Stand up! Let’s go!”

Yet, they didn’t move right away. Caelum, of all us, looked the most conflicted. His eyes were heavy with emotion as he reluctantly stood, and in a low voice, barely above a whisper, he uttered, “Leilani, I’d let you punch me in the face again. You can knock out ten of my teeth this time—just give us a chance to talk. Even for a minute.”

Goddess, I knew it was inappropriate, but I nearly laughed at his desperation, at the regret etched across his face, and at how he looked at her as if she were the sun, the moon, and all the stars combined.

Even Leilani couldn’t suppress a dark chuckle. She turned to him, her gaze piercing, and after a long moment, she shook her head, her voice firm. “No.”

“Please.”

“We’ll discuss it later in court,” she replied softly, her tone almost mocking. “…and our first hearing is in two days, so be prepared. For now, I’ll have to file a restraining order against the three of you, so please do not return here. Thank you.”

Her words, delivered with a calmness that belied their impact, struck me right in the core. I shuddered, but before I could respond, Kael interjected.
