The moment the three of them walked into the classroom, they could feel the tension thick in the air. It was like a wave of bad vibes rolling straight toward Fiona and her friends, so strong it almost made them stop in their tracks. They glanced at each other, then just shrugged it off and headed to their seats like nothing was wrong.
Fiona noticed Amy’s crew shooting her looks sharp enough to cut glass—especially the girls Jane had called out last night. Their glares were so intense, it was like they’d chew her up if they could.
“What did I miss?” Nash frowned, looking genuinely confused.
Fiona and Tyler just exchanged a quick, knowing glance. Fiona lowered her head and started texting Jackson under the desk, not bothering to explain.
Tyler gave Nash the rundown in a few sentences. Nash’s eyes lit up; he grinned and gave Tyler a thumbs-up. “Dude, that was perfect.”
Honestly, anyone who went around picking on people every day deserved a taste of their own medicine.
Nash hadn’t been at school yesterday, so he was totally in the dark about what had happened.
On the other side of the room, Amy’s friends were whispering furiously.
“Amy, look at Fiona—she’s acting like she owns the place. Why should we be scared of her? The Gregorys and the Stonnells are both big families. And she’s just from Maple Grove. Who does she think she is, treating us like this?”
“Right? You’re too nice, Amy. Even last night, Jane had the nerve to talk to you like that. If you’re always this kind, people are just going to walk all over you.”
Amy just smiled—sweet, calm, and totally collected. She patted their hands gently. “Don’t say that. Fiona isn’t like that. I trust her. Plus, she’s only trying to help everyone get better at what they do.”
Amy always had a way of putting herself on a moral high ground—classic Amy.
