Rex was there too.
His seat was in the second row–just behind and to the side of where Maggie, Franklin, and Harry were sitting.
He had arrived rather late.
Just as he was about to take his seat, he saw Franklin lean slightly toward Maggie, initiating conversation.
When Maggie didn’t respond, the smile on Franklin’s face…
Rex’s expression darkened slightly.
He couldn’t quite explain why, but he always felt that Franklin treated Maggie differently.
He’d had that impression for a while now–long before today–that Franklin seemed unusually interested in her.
But in the past few months, there hadn’t been any noticeable interactions between them. Ren had almost assumed
that Franklin had lost interest.
Apparently not.
His gaze was a bit too direct–so much so that Franklin couldn’t help but notice.
He turned his head slightly. “Mr. Hardin, you’re here too?”
Rex quickly smoothed his expression and responded coolly, “Mm.”
The main political figures at the forum included Jordan, just as in previous years.
After delivering her speech, Jordan and the other officials began announcing the list of top–performing companies.
Naturally, Cole was among the names.
Maggie, Franklin, Harry, and several others were called up to the stage to receive their awards.
When they went up, the three of them stood together.
After Franklin gave a short acceptance speech, Maggie took the microphone from him.
She began:
“Cole’s progress to where it is today has been fueled by innovation–and by building a team that values and pursues innovation. Of course, innovation is not easy. To gather high–density talent and make it truly effective–well, that’s

even harder…“
She spoke with clear focus and conviction.
In the audience, Julia watched her from one of the back rows. As Maggie earnestly delivered her remarks, Julia couldn’t help but find it funny.
Sure, Cole had done very well. But honestly–how much of that had anything to do with Maggie?
Yes, she’d published a well–received paper.
But that had come after Cole had already established global recognition.
Listening to this speech, anyone who didn’t know better would’ve thought Cole had been her blood, sweat, and tears.
Yes, she was on stage as a representative.
But really, she was only accepting the award on behalf of Johnny.
The award had nothing to do with her personally.
After the speeches concluded, Maggie, Franklin, and the others left the stage.
The event lasted about three hours in total.
As it wrapped up, Maggie prepared to leave.
Seeing this, Harry stepped around Franklin and walked toward her. “Heading out?”
“Mm.”
However, Maggie had gained quite a bit of recognition in the business world lately, and a number of attendees came over to chat with her.
She couldn’t get away immediately.
She and Harry were both quickly surrounded by people.
