From Best Friend To Fiancé (Savannah and Roman) novel Chapter 268

**Chapter 268: She’s All Yours**

**Roman**

Reese lounged across from me as if he owned the entire universe. One leg draped casually over the other, he held my sandwich in his hand, that same infuriating boyish grin plastered across his face. It was a grin that seemed impervious to the chaos around him, like he believed nothing in this world could ever dampen his spirit. I couldn’t help but feel a surge of irritation at that thought.

“So, let’s clarify this,” he said, taking a leisurely bite out of my breakfast. “Penny said she’d mess you up, and now I’m supposed to do the same to her—until she’s stripped of everything? Her sanity, her career, maybe even her mind? Just making sure I’ve got the mission briefing right.”

He delivered the line as if it were the punchline of a joke, as if the entire situation was nothing more than a source of amusement for him.

I had rehearsed this very scene in my mind countless times before he even decided to show his face. The earlier fallout with Savannah had left me questioning the wisdom of this plan. Inviting Reese into her orbit was akin to handing a pyromaniac a canister of gasoline. But Savannah, with her stubborn streak, had insisted on confronting him. She believed she could tackle him head-on, to prove she was more than capable. After a lengthy argument, I had finally relented.

Now, here he was, sprawled across my living room, devouring what was meant to be my breakfast, making himself at home as if he hadn’t been previously banned from my space.

I leaned forward, resting my forearms on my knees, trying to keep my voice steady. “Penelope crossed a line. She insulted me, she insulted Savannah. Some things can’t just be brushed aside, Reese. She threatened me and challenged me. So, I intend to remind her who she’s dealing with.”

Reese chewed thoughtfully, then wiped his fingers on a napkin with exaggerated care. “Ah,” he said slowly, as if he had just unlocked the secrets of the universe, “Savannah’s involved. Now it all makes sense.”

I frowned, feeling a knot of unease in my stomach. “What exactly does that mean?”

His smile widened, mischief dancing in his eyes. “Nothing. Just testing a theory.”

That grin was never something I could trust.

Reese leaned back, tilting his head toward the ceiling as if he were calculating some grand strategy. “So, let me get this straight. My role in your elaborate scheme is to… what, exactly? Charm Penelope into submission? Seduce her until she forgets her own name? Use my charm for revenge?”

A headache was already starting to throb at my temples. “Your job is—”

But he cut me off.

“So, my job is basically to… whore myself out to her? Revenge sex? Is that the assignment?”

Before I could respond, Savannah’s voice sliced through the air with a dry humor. “That shouldn’t be a problem for you, should it? If anything, it’s a bonus.”

Reese turned to face her, a slow grin spreading across his lips. “Always so clever, sister-in-law.” He looked her over as if appraising a piece of art. “You might be onto something. It’s been ages since I tested my stamina on that particular track.”

Savannah grimaced, clearly unimpressed. “Ew.”
