From Best Friend To Fiancé (Savannah and Roman) novel Chapter 290

**Dreams Folding Into Broken Time**
**Chapter 290**

“No!” I cried out, my voice trembling as I grasped his face once more, pulling him close to me. I pressed my lips against his, desperation coursing through my veins. “No space. Don’t say that.” My kisses were frantic, moving from his lips to his cheeks, then to his jawline, each touch a silent plea. “I love you, I love you, I love you,” I whispered against his skin, hoping to bridge the chasm that had opened between us.

He remained still, a statue of indecision, allowing my fervor to wash over him. My lips traveled across his face, my fingers tangling in his hair, my body pressing against him as if I could mold him back into the warmth I craved. I took his hand, placing it directly over my heart, on my breast, silently urging him to feel something—anything.

His hand lingered there, enveloping me, yet it felt devoid of life, warm but unresponsive.

The sobs began to escape me, growing louder, more desperate. “I won’t let you leave me. I refuse to!” I cried, kissing him with renewed intensity. “Please, Roman. I can’t lose you. Not like this.”

I felt his breath hitch, a guttural sound that echoed the turmoil in my heart. “I’m not leaving you, Savannah. I will never leave you.”

Yet, doubt gnawed at me like a relentless predator.

With trembling hands, I reached for the waistband of his pants, my mind racing with the need to remind him of what we once were. I kissed down his chest, my lips tracing a path of longing, fear, and a hint of madness, until I found myself kneeling before him, vulnerable and raw.

“Savannah, stop.” His voice was rough, low, strained, a warning that sent chills down my spine. He grasped my shoulders gently but firmly. “I’m not in the mood.”

I froze, disbelief slicing through the fog of desperation. “You don’t want me anymore,” I whispered, the weight of the truth settling heavily in my chest. “That’s it, isn’t it?”

My worst nightmare had materialized before my eyes.

“Jesus Christ, Savannah,” he hissed, raking a hand through his hair in frustration. “Of course I want you. I’ll always want you for the rest of my fucking life!”

“Then what’s wrong?” My voice cracked, the pain evident. “Why won’t you touch me—”

Suddenly, clarity struck me, illuminating the shadows of my confusion. My voice softened, trembling with the weight of realization. “Oh. I get it now.”

He frowned, confusion shadowing his features. “You get what?”

“You think I’m trying to deceive you again,” I said bitterly, tears stinging my eyes. “You think I’ll trick you once more. Fine. Give me the whole bottle of pills, Roman. I’ll swallow every single one of them right here, right now, in front of you if that’s what it takes to prove myself.”

“Savannah, enough—”

“Or you can use a condom, even though I’m allergic. You can use ten of them! I don’t care anymore!” My words came out in a frenzied rush, wild and broken. “Just don’t shut me out. Don’t go cold on me.”
