Chapter 1321: Marked

Sylas dismissed the Armor.

’Not good enough.’

If he had had the Ape Lineage’s technique in hand, it would take him what would feel like seconds to figure this out between his perfected Rune Spark Mastery and his time dilation abilities.

But right now, he was trying to extrapolate perfection from an imperfect representation. The fact that he had made any headway at all was a miracle.

The fact that he succeeded in just three attempts was something beyond that. He was no longer a person hoping that a miracle would be bestowed onto him, but rather a God waving his hand to make it happen himself.

The rampaging aura came out of Sylas. He meshed so well with the Ape Warlord Armor that it seemed as though it was born for him. But when he felt like it wanted him to lean forward, it shattered.

He broke the Armor apart again, his eyes a radiant cold. His rage took tangible form, tendrils of blackened rouge emitting from his hair and Aether.

[Primal Fury] churned within him, his blood feeling more like lava pouring through his veins in pulsing waves. It ached, but almost in a good way, intoxicating to the touch and almost suffocating in how much more of it he wanted.

Sylas began to modify the Runes, his mind running through one calculation after another. He didn’t want to go as far as to accidentally form the Ape Emperor Armor. He felt that he was more than capable of it, but it would be too far.

Quite frankly, if not for how incompatible with the Scorpion Warlord Armor he was, Sylas would have mastered it long ago. The only connection the two of them had at all was the fact they both used Poison Aether. But outside of this, there was nothing at all.

It could be said that Sylas had handicapped himself with this path, not that he had had much of a choice at the time. It was the only Armor available to him in the first place.

However, if he formed the Ape Emperor Armor now, he had no way of knowing if it would be detected by those people as well. And if the Ape Lineage was to them what the Ape Lineage was to this branch Sanctum here, then whoever came this time would be even more powerful than the duo Sylas had met.

The middle-aged man had been very wrong about one thing. He didn’t need to warn Sylas about doing something stupid.

Sylas was the man who entered the plans of the Grimblades knowing full well they planned to use him as a workhorse. Until the day they tried to kill him, he never lashed out against them in the slightest.

He was well-practiced in the ways of the world, and he understood his limits.

When the day came that he came for his Gene, there wouldn’t be the slightest thing they could do about it. That, he swore.

He didn’t even want the Scorpion Emperor Gene. The Scorpion had never been in line with his personality or the type of person he wanted to be.

But that was one matter, and then there was the principle of the matter.

Maybe when that day came, he would casually feed the Gene he ripped out of his heart to the Madness Key. But if he made that decision, it would be his decision to make and no one else’s.

Was it supposed to take several generations of buildup to become a true powerhouse? Was he meant to accept his station in life, settle down with his wife and have children who would be stronger than himself and go on to have grandchildren even stronger than them?

He would rather die than rely on his progeny for his place in this world.

Their blood... he would feel it run through his own fingers, soak through his own skin, stain the scent of his own air.
