Girl Get Rid Of That Jerk (Williams and Shawn) novel Chapter 365

Kate’s question seemed to fly under Cindy’s radar without causing a ripple. Cindy simply assumed Kate was genuinely worried about Shawn, so she chuckled and said, “Oh, it’s just the usual. Shawn and his dad haven’t said much to me. They’re probably swamped right now. I’ll have a word with Shawn later. Busy or not, he shouldn’t be ignoring his wife and kid. I’ll make sure he carves out some time for you.”

Seeing Cindy was blissfully unaware, Kate decided not to dig any deeper.

“Aunt Cindy, there’s really no need for a nanny to move in. It’s just not practical here.”

Cindy hesitated, “I’m just concerned about you living alone. Pregnant women need someone around.”

What could possibly go wrong? Kate thought, rolling her eyes inwardly.

She’d already made up her mind about the abortion. If Cindy sent someone to keep an eye on her, how could she possibly pull it off?

The Reynolds family was hanging by a thread financially, and having this baby was out of the question. It was early enough in the pregnancy to consider her options.

If she went through with the pregnancy, there’d be no turning back. Even if she didn’t marry Shawn and avoided the Reynolds family’s debts, having a child would complicate finding someone else. Raising a kid alone was no picnic, and Kate wasn’t about to make her life any harder than it needed to be.

Though she was plotting her next move, Kate kept her face calm and composed.

With a smile, she spun a tale, “My mom found out I’m pregnant and already booked a ticket. With her here, you don’t need to worry.”

“Oh, your mom’s coming to Oak Lake? That’s great,” Cindy beamed. “When’s she arriving? I’ll host a welcome dinner for her.”

The Reynolds Group had shifted its headquarters to Oak Lake back when Wesley made his investment.

Back then, Shawn purchased a villa in Oak Lake to win Allison back, and now the entire Reynolds clan resided there.

During the time Kate played the role of Allison’s stand-in, she managed to convince Shawn to buy her a fully furnished apartment, which she now called home.

Her mom hadn’t bought any tickets, and even if she had, there was no way Cindy could meet her.

The Reynolds family was a chaotic mess, and Kate was doing everything she could to steer clear. She certainly wasn’t going to introduce them to her own family.

But she was past the age of living in a fantasy.

She loved Shawn, but love didn’t pay the bills.

Getting married to him now would be a disaster for her future.

Cindy, hearing Kate’s confession, gently patted her shoulder. “Don’t worry, I’ll have a word with Shawn and make sure he spends tonight with you.”

What good would that do now? Kate thought to herself.

“It’s alright, Aunt Cindy. Shawn’s got a lot on his plate. I don’t want to burden him. Once things settle down, I’m sure he’ll come around.”

Cindy nodded, her eyes full of admiration. “Kate, you’re so mature. I knew I picked the right daughter-in-law.”
