Girl Get Rid Of That Jerk (Williams and Shawn) novel Chapter 390

"Hey, are you free? I’d love to take you out for dinner," Carolyn said casually.

Olivia paused for a moment. She had been planning to decline, but the thought of Carolyn's past interest in Joshua made her reconsider. Carolyn had come back for the funeral of Ben and Grandma Emily, so she must have run into Joshua already. Olivia had a hunch this dinner invitation was about more than just catching up—Carolyn was likely fishing for details about Joshua.

Similarly, Olivia was curious to see if Carolyn was still holding a torch for Joshua.

"Sure," Olivia agreed. "I'll head home to change. You can pick the spot."

"Sounds good," Carolyn replied, "I'll text you."

With a cool demeanor, Olivia just nodded, watching as Carolyn walked away. She let out a sigh. Should she inform Allie that Carolyn was back?

Even though Allie and Joshua had called it quits, it was obvious there were still feelings lingering between them. Now that Chris was out of the picture and Grandma Emily had passed, maybe there was a chance for them to patch things up...

---

7:30 PM.

In a cozy private room at an exclusive restaurant owned by the Brown Corporation, Carolyn and Olivia sat across from each other.

After exchanging pleasantries and catching up, Carolyn took a sip of her tea and asked, "I heard Joshua and Allison broke up?"

Carolyn knew Allison, the Owens family's heiress from Oak Lake, her age-mate. They occasionally bumped into each other at social events but were merely acquaintances. Learning that Joshua loved Allison stirred a pang of jealousy within her, though she couldn’t deny Allison’s charm.

Word had it that Allison was the school beauty from middle school to college. Besides, she was a star in both academics and extracurriculars, bagging awards in golf, piano, and calligraphy since grade school. In their elite circle, it was common for young women to dabble in arts, but Allison's exceptional flair was rare.

Pride kept Carolyn from chasing after Joshua once he turned her down. She coolly remarked, "Losing to her, I can accept. But Joshua, I won't give up."

She left the rest of her thought unspoken. I’ll work hard to become remarkable enough for you to notice.

As Carolyn asked about Joshua and Allison, her heart weighed heavy with anticipation. They had broken up back in January, and over four months had passed. She wasn't sure if they had gotten back together. The answer she might hear was one she both feared and hoped for.
