Allison knew exactly what she was doing when she delivered that verbal jab, aiming to hit Kate right where it hurt. As expected, Kate's face darkened even more at her words.
Kate scoffed, "Why do you care?"
"We're somewhat familiar with each other, aren't we? I was even planning on bringing you and Shawn a wedding gift. Looks like that's not happening now. Such a pity," Allison chuckled.
Kate retorted angrily, "Allison, are you doing this on purpose?"
"Absolutely," Allison replied with a sweet but maddening smile. "Let me take a wild guess—you're at the hospital for an abortion, right?"
"You—" Kate's eyes widened, ready to lash out but stopping herself mid-sentence.
How did she know?
That was close. She almost let it slip.
There was no way she’d let Allison turn her into a joke.
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Kate countered, "I'm here for a prenatal check-up."
"Oh, really?" Allison saw through the lie but decided to let it slide, smiling as she turned on her heel and walked away.
Kate watched Allison's retreating figure, fists clenched, eyes burning with a mix of resentment and anger.
...
Later that afternoon, Allison was sitting by the window, engrossed in a book, when a nurse knocked and entered.
"Ms. Allison, there's a lady outside who wants to see you." The nurse, aware of Allison's status as the boss's daughter, spoke with utmost respect.
"What's her name?" Allison asked, slightly puzzled.
The first person that came to mind was Rose.
The nurse replied, "She said her last name is Andrews."
Andrews? That could only mean one person: Shawn's mother, Cindy.
Cindy showing up must be about Reynolds Group.
Allison had no desire to see her.
Then who was it?
Allison said, "Take me to see her."
From Joy's description, the woman's sneaky behavior did seem suspicious.
She needed to find out what this woman was up to.
"Brooklyn, come with us," Allison said to Brooklyn, who was nearby.
"Sure thing, boss."
The three of them headed downstairs.
Joy whispered, "Allison, it was right over there that I spotted the sneaky woman..."
Joy led them behind a large pillar, pointing towards the woman.
Allison followed her line of sight, her eyes widening in surprise.
