“Okay.” His voice was soft and warm, with just the right touch of charm.

They stopped for a second while Joshua pulled out his phone and made a quick call. In no time, a staff member showed up, discreetly unlocked a hidden side door, and led them out.

Stepping from the haunted house’s gloomy darkness into bright sunshine, Allison felt a rush of dizziness. For a split second, the world spun.

Joshua reached out to steady her. “You alright?”

“I’m fine,” she said, forcing a small smile.

They waited near the exit for about ten minutes before Sabrina, Brian, and George finally made their way out.

Brian looked like he’d just seen a ghost—completely pale.

Meanwhile, Sabrina was practically bouncing with excitement. “That haunted house was awesome! So intense!”

Brian looked miserable. “As long as you had a good time.”

Sabrina glanced over at Allison, puzzled. “Hey, Allie, how’d you get out so fast?”

Allison’s cheeks flushed with embarrassment. “I wasn’t feeling great, so I left through the staff exit.”

“What’s wrong? Are you okay? Is it serious?” Sabrina asked, genuinely worried.

“It’s nothing, really. I just got a little dizzy…” Allison mumbled, leaving out the part where she’d been totally freaked out.

Sabrina relaxed a little. “Okay, as long as you’re alright.” She turned back to Brian and grinned at Allison. “Look at him—he’s terrified. I told him not to go in if he was scared, but does he ever listen?”

Brian still looked shaken. “Never again. That’s it for me and haunted houses. Who thought this was fun? It’s basically torture.”

Sabrina burst out laughing. “I had a blast! If you’re that scared, who can you blame but yourself?”

Brian just shook his head, managing a fond smile. “Alright, Miss Daredevil, how about we try something a little more chill?”

“Fine. Since you survived two thrill rides with me, I’ll cut you some slack. Let’s go do that one!” Sabrina pointed at the log flume ride nearby, her eyes lighting up.

Brian looked over just as a car reached the top of the ride and plunged down, sending a huge spray of water everywhere.

The park wasn’t just about rides—it also had all kinds of animals to check out.

“Want to come with us?” George asked Joshua.

Joshua shook his head. “You two go ahead.”

He figured George and Tracey could use some time alone. Honestly, so could he and Allie.

“Alright,” George agreed, taking Tracey’s hand as they headed off.

Joshua hummed his agreement. “Yeah. What do you want to do next?”

She glanced around. “That one over there looks fun.”

“Alright. I’ll go with you.”
