The Rogue Alpha and the Werewolf King (by Hailey Kristine) novel Chapter 121

Chapter2

Evan’s POV

I make my way back to my office stewing in my thoughts. Ziana has overcome a lot and I know that she is just making the most out of life, but it is hard to continue ignoring her behavior.

When she first got here, she was broken in ways that I alone could not fix. Since then, her nightmares have stopped and through her being loved and accepted by the pack and her family, she has realized that there are good people and not everybody is evil, sadistic bast*rds who want to hurt her. She has told me and Warrick a lot of what happened, but I think the only one who knows more and was not there is Sirena. Somehow Sirena broke through to Ziana and was able to help her with a lot of her issues. I am grateful for that. Sirena actually became one of our councilors when we realized that she had a knack for helping people through dark times.

Ziana, though, since she turned 18 a year and a half ago has been partying and sleeping around. I know that most unmated young people don’t wait for their mates, but it is hard when I see my daughter doing the same. I was lucky to find mine so young, then once he died I didn’t feel the need to give that part of me to anybody else. Even after I met my second chance, I didn’t feel the need. It took a lot for me to give myself to Warrick. s*x is something that should be sacred and intimate, Not something that is given willey nilley.

I don’t understand what happened when she turned 18 to cause this change in behavior. Maybe it was that she didn’t find her mate right away, or maybe something else happened. I am not sure, but I wish she would

talk to me.

Sighing, I sit down in my office chair and look at the paperwork on my desk. Before the interruption I was catching up on pack requests and disputes so that we can be ready for the meeting and what Alpha’s might

have to say.

Since the war, we have rebuilt the branches of politics in the Royal pack. Administers were replaced and

renamed to governors.

We now have 10 branches. Education, pack relations, internal finance, external finance, pack requests, health, agriculture, war, peace, and justice. Warrick and I have a hand in all of them, so that nothing like before happens.

Also after the war we reached out to all of our allies and, surprisingly, it only took us 6 months to rebuild what was destroyed in the pack. Another 6 months to build the buildings needed for my pack, since the two packs came together.

We figured out there were 3 packs who helped with the war on Franklin’s side. Of those three, one had enough remaining members to appoint a new Alpha. The other two packs were given a choice to join another pack, given they had less than 50 people left.

About 8 months after we had enough of our bearings to hold the first Alpha meeting. This meeting is for all pack Alpha’s to come to the castle and share anything they may want with us and fellow Alpha’s. Not many came, but the next year we held it 18 out of the 26 packs came. This year we have had 22 accept the invitation. I think it is because we held a ball about 9 months ago. That is something else we are going to start having regularly, a mating ball.

Chapter2

Warrick adopted Ziana officially, right before she turned 18.

There are two adoption methods. One is legally and the other is legally and blood adoption. The blood adoption is where a priestess blesses you and the child. She cuts each person’s palm and they bleed into a goblet. From there she says a few words and dips a finger into the blood, then traces a rune on each person’s forehead and heart. The full parental bond is set in place instantly.

The blood adoption gives the connection as though you are the child’s birth parent. Whereas a legal adoption, you have a small parental bond.

Ziana finally said yes to the legal adoption to which Warrick was already excited about, but then she asked him if he would be okay doing the blood adoption and he was over the moon. He even cried. She doesn’t call him dad, but publicly she calls him father. She explained that she doesn’t like using the name because that is what she called Franklin and she doesn’t want to associate Warrick with him. She also said that in public settings where she is expected to call him father she would, but not anywhere else.

He was upset and it still hurts him, but it doesn’t change his love for her. He still hasn’t given up hope that she will call him father or dad in a loving way, not businesslike. Which is how she uses it now.

Warrick and I also had a son, Jaxon. He was a happy accident, that we wouldn’t change for the world. He just turned 2, 4 months ago and his gift of fire he finds amusing. Trouble at its finest.

A knock sounds from my door and I look up just as Linc walks in, His green eyes tired as he trudges into my

office. I smirk.

You look just as tired as me.” I remark and he grunts, plopping himself down on a chair in front of my desk.

Ha ha real funny. He says and I shake my head.

What’s up?I ask and he sighs.

Nali is up taking care of a screaming Trisha and shooed me out to come make sure you are good.” He answers and I chuckle. Trisha, his three year old daughter, is an even bigger handful than Jaxon.

I am just trying to predict what Alpha’s might be asking for, and catching up on their problems. There are more this year, and I want this meeting to be a success. Warrick had his turn to study yesterday. He’s watching Jaxon now, so I can.I say and he smiles, but then frowns as he looks into my eyes.

You’ll do great. As you always do, but that’s not all. What’s wrong? He asks and I curse.

Is it that obvious?I ask and he shakes his head.

Only to me. I have known you since we were kids, I can see when there is something else going on with you.” He states and I nod my head. I know, because I do the same to him.

I caught Ziana sneaking in again this morning. I am worried, because she is acting out and isn’t waiting for her mate.I say and Linc studies me, then leans back. His green eyes are speculative.

Is it that, or are you worried because you don’t know the reason WHY she is acting out? You aren’t one to shame people for not waiting for their mate. Very few do.He says and I sit back, mulling that though

  1. er.

I guess you’re right. I don’t REALLY care about her not waiting for her mate, although I would prefer she does, but I get it. I just wish I knew why all of a sudden she started partying and sleeping around.I say and he

nods.

You can’t fix everything Evan. This may be something that she has to figure out on her own. She may

tell you
