Chapter 17

Chapter17

Zane’s POV

Finding out that Ziana was my mate was wonderful, until it wasn’t. Her being Killian’s mate too, well that is

what isn’t so great right now. We never considered that we would have the same mate. It is very rare to have a triad or more, of the same species, without them being twins so now we are trying to figure it out. We aren’t

agreeing on how to continue with her.

I agreed to the chains at first, because I didn’t want to lose her. It was an irrational decision on my part to agree, but now that I did there is no convincing Killian to let her go. He keeps saying that once she apologizes and promises not to leave will he let her go.

I have tried explaining to him over and over that locking her up isn’t the way to get an apology or a promise to

not leave.

He is pi*sed off now though, because it is going on three days since she arrived and there is no sign of her even wanting to see us, let alone apologize. It doesn’t help that our plan has backfired with Kai. He loves her

and tells us all about how great she is.

That’s not how this should work, we should have been the ones to get to know her first. I haven’t even had a conversation with her yet. At least Killian has.

Killian and 1 have tried to go in to speak with her together and separately. Each time, she yells at us to get out. Killian claimed this morning that he is done trying and being nice. He is getting more and more irritated and his thoughts of her are tarnished. He was hoping for a docile, sweet, and quiet mate. While we have a stubborn, loud mate, who speaks her mind and curses like a sailor.

Not exactly what Killian had in mind when wanting to find his mate. Me? I just wanted my mate, as long as she wasn’t gold digging or fake, that’s all that mattered to me. I love that Zlana is strong and opinionated. While it bothers Killian that she is the princess, I have no qualms about it. Killian is a complex man, always contradicting himself and as much as he is furious about Ziana, he is already enamored by her and never

wants to let her go.

I am pulled from my thoughts when I see Kai pushing a cart down the hallway. Damn it’s already noon. I get up and rush to the doorway, seeing him make his way to the Alpha elevator. Before I could even think about it I was jogging after him, catching the door before it closed, I slipped into the elevator.

What’s up Zane?He asks and I smile at him.

I just was thinking that since Ziana is so nice to you that maybe..I trail off as he laughs.

That maybe she will be nice to you if I am there? He finished for me, nodding my head.

Yeah.I grumble and glare at him.

Worth a shot. As much as I love getting to know my hopefully soon to be sister, I wish the pack would too. She is a good person. He says and I nod.

The elevator door dings, indicating that we are on the 5th floor. As we walk closer to the room she is in, the

scent of oranges grows stronger.

I open the door for Kai and let him push in the cart before following him in. After closing the door, I turn

around to see her sitting in the big chair.

We brought you lunch.Kal says, trying to get her attention. She doesn’t even move.

Is she normally like this with you?I ask as we walk closer to her. Her normally bright purple eyes seem almost dead. She is looking at us, but not. Almost like she is gazing through us.

GET OUT! GO!Ziana screams at us, and throws a pillow. We stand there a few seconds, before turning

around to leave.

Is that how she normally is with you and Kill?Kai asks and I nod.

Well at least the screaming to get out is normal.I say and he shrugs.

She said she wasn’t feeling well this morning, maybe that’s why she looked like she did.He says.

Yeah, maybe.I answer, having this horrible gut feeling that something is wrong. Kai and I walk back to the

elevator in silence, both in our thoughts.

“Want to go see how Killian’s doing with training? I’d love to see his grumpy a*s teaching the kids.He says

and I chuckle.

Killian is not the best with kids. He is too rough around the edges, so he tries not to train the kids because they annoy him and he scares them. It makes interactions awkward and hilarious. Since Kai has been the one with Ziana, Kill and I took over training. Today is his day with the 6 to 8 year olds. It’s not really too much of a training, it’s just to make them feel included.

We make our way to the training field and stand on the sidelines.

Ball your fist like this.” I hear Killian instruct, his rough voice makes a couple kids flinch. Now when you throw the punch, make sure to put all of your weight into it. Pivot your whole body, like this.He explains, throwing a punch while over exaggerating the motion with his body.

YOU’RE IT!Screams one kid and the group of 15 kids scatter, screaming about the other being it. I laugh at

the scowl on Kill’s face.

He stomps angrily over to me and Kai.

It’s not funny. He grumbles, which only makes us laugh more.

It’s hilarious, bro.Kai says, slapping Kill on the back as he growls. We stood there for a bit, watching the kids play tag. They even got Kai roped in with them. The game switched to just Kai being the monster to run away from.

Blade, my wolf, wimpers loudly in my head, causing me to wince.

GO! GO TO MATE!He then screams I look at Killian and his eyes are panicked as he must have gotten the same message. He grabs my shoulder and the next thing I know we are in Ziana’s room.

I gasp at the sight in front of me. Ziana is out of the cuffs, but only got a few feet away from them before passing out. There is a dagger laying next to her, but that isn’t what makes me cry out in pain. She is laying in a puddle of blood that keeps dripping from her wrists.

Killian roars and races to her, picking her up and looking at her wrists.

Why isn’t she healing? No. No. No. NoHe begins to panic, holding her body close to his. I kneel down on her other side and pick up the blade.
