Marion held out a hand. "Care to show me around?"
Debra stared at him. That weird feeling hit her again. Before she knew it, her hand was in his.
Snapping out of it, she shrugged. "Fine, whatever. Consider today as your lucky day."
As soon as they showed up in the park, their appearances immediately grabbed attention.
From four in the afternoon, they hit rides hard for four hours. By eight, the lights dimmed.
Debra stumbled off the coaster, dizzy, and plopped onto a bench.
The park glowed like a fairy tale.
Marion took a call and vanished. People trickled out.
She sat by the carousel, watching the lights flicker off one by one.
Andrew still hadn't shown. She couldn't hide her frustration.
She'd had fun with Marion and had tried not to dwell on Andrew bailing. But when she was all alone, the sadness crept in.
By the time the fireworks were over, they had only hit half the rides.
The wind picked up. It was a bit chilly.
