Outside the house, Debra checked her phone and saw missed calls from Erica, Randy, Jordan, and mostly, Marion.
She meant to call him back, but Erica called again.
"What's up?"
"Get to the hospital. Andrew is in trouble."
Her blood ran cold. Before her brain caught up, her body bolted to the car. She hung up, speeding toward the hospital.
The wind howled. The incense mess made her head pound. She took the wrong turns, and the traffic lights suddenly blurred.
But instead of slowing down, she floored it.
She prayed for Andrew's safety. She still had so many questions to ask him.
She remembered their first meeting. His loftiness was still vivid in her memories.
She wanted to ask him why he helped her start the McKinney Group and gave her the family seal. It couldn't be just because she was a qualified partner. He had given so much more than he had benefited. In their cooperation, she was the winner.
The more she thought, the more anxious she got.
A car suddenly zoomed over. It was too late to swerve her car. It plunged straight off the bridge into the lake.
Icy water rushed in, swallowing her. She fumbled with the seatbelt, choking on the gulps of the lake.
