"Am I hallucinating?" a guy muttered, rubbing his eyes. "That's not human speed."
He'd never seen anyone run like that. Lillian seemed to be throwing the race but dragging it out.
The coach hit the timer. "Three minutes and fifteen seconds! Lillian, you aced it!"
"Aced it? I just want a pass," Lillian groaned, flopping to the ground.
Farrah freaked. "Lillian, you okay? Don't scare me."
Juan was unimpressed by the theatrics. "Marion's stellar daughter."
He turned and walked into the building. Ben knew he was ticked because Lillian couldn't even nail a simple pacing job.
In the infirmary, the doctor had gone to grab glucose, leaving Lillian and Solomon alone.
Solomon smacked her arm. "Cut the act. Get up."
Lillian cracked one eye and bolted upright. "How did I do? Convincing?"
"You kidding?" Solomon groaned.
If her test run hit the internet, it'd be meme city. Anyone could tell she was sandbagging.
A few seconds faster, and she'd have smashed the school record.
