Jordan got used to standing behind Debra.
She was smart but careless.
She'd walk straight past obstacles on the road, too lazy to go around. He would clear them for her almost instinctively.
As Andrew said, it was their way of getting along. It was all a habit.
But Jordan didn't like the idea. His actions weren't much different from some desperate guy chasing a girl.
He slammed his fist on the desk.
Barton walked in and bumped into the scene. "That's Mr. Andrew Potter's new desk."
Jordan pulled his fist back, embarrassed. "Uh, I just remembered I've got homework. Gotta go."
He bolted out of the room.
Barton blinked. "Isn't Mr. Jordan Potter just in college? Homework already?"
"He's not great at lying," Andrew said calmly. "Probably in love."
"In love?" Barton mused.
He hadn't seen Jordan with any girl he liked.
Andrew didn't explain, but he understood Jordan's panic. That was what a lovesick person looked like.
Back in his room, Jordan's mind raced.
