Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right novel Chapter 1941

"Don't get cocky!" the guy yelled, red-faced. "My dad says you need us."

Randy knew the guy was into Erica. He had been obsessed with her, but her stubborn streak meant she'd never bend for a guy.

A strong woman like her could turn love into hate fast.

The guy thought threats would keep her. To Erica, that was an insult.

"I decide what I need," she said firmly, grabbing Randy and turning to leave.

Irritated, the guy smashed things against the door.

That night, Erica and Randy wandered the streets aimlessly.

Randy knew his impulsiveness had caused trouble for Erica, but she didn't blame him.

She just stayed quiet.

"I didn't mean to," Randy started, tugging her sleeve. "I just couldn't stand him treating you like that."

"I know you were looking out for me," Erica said. "It's not your fault. I knew he was a jerk. I'd been wanting to teach him a lesson."

She ruffled his hair and added, "Thanks, bro."

Randy wanted to grab her hand and tell her he didn't want to be her brother. He could be someone she relied on. He could do better than anyone else.
