Chapter 395
Sometimes, a little genuine kindness could rekindle the family bonds that lay hidden beneath all the personal interests and profit.
Sean showed up at Winifred’s villa and rang the doorbell. The one who answered was Rowena–the hottest actress in the business right
пом.
“Who are you?” Rowena asked, her tone cool and a little wary,
She was dressed in a white spaghetti–strap nightgown, and every move she made practically dripping with allure.
She looked Sean up and down, her eyes full of suspicion.
“My name’s Sean Lecter. I’m looking for Winifred Hart. Does she live here?” Sean asked.
Rowena gave him another once–over. “What do you want with her?”
Sean’s mouth twitched, “What’s her deal with Winifred? Even if they’re close friends, she’s being way too nosy, he thought.
“She saved my life a few days ago, and I came to thank her, Sean said,
“She’s not here. Come back in a few days,” Rowena said, then kicked the door shut right in his face.
Sean almost got smacked by the door. He rubbed his nose, looking a bit rattled, and could only walk away, feeling both embarrassed and annoyed
Upstairs, Rowena watched Sean leave from the window, then turned and walked back into the room.
“Winifred, I made you some soup. Try it, Rowena said as she walked in with a bowl.
She couldn’t take her eyes off Winifred, who was sitting on the bed in nothing but a black nightgown. Rowena sat on the edge of the bed beside her and reached out to feel her forehead.
It didn’t feel hot anymore.
Rowena leaned down, bringing their foreheads together.
She could feel a bit of coolness from Winifred’s forehead,
Just then, Winifred’s eyes flew open, and she grabbed Rowena’s wrist, her gaze cold and piercing.
When she realized it was Rowena, she loosened her grip.
Rowena met her eyes and ga
gave a small smile.
“Winifred, eat something before you go back to sleep. Rowena said.
Winifred propped herself up and touched her forehead–she’d had a fever last night.
But she could feel the coolness radiating from the person beside her.
“Did you take care of me last night?” Winifred asked.
Rowena nodded, her ears secretly turning red as flashes of last night came to mind.
Yeah. Eat something first–you must be starving, Rowena said.
“Okay,” Winifred said, reaching out to take the bowl.
But Rowena held up a spoon and brought it right to her lips.
Try it. I spent an hour making it,” Rowena said.
Winifred opened her mouth and took a spoonful–it was delicious.
Chapter 395
“Do you like it?” Rowena asked, watching her expectantly.
Winifred nodded.
Rowena pretended not to notice, took a bite herself, and commented, “Honestly, it’s not bad
Just a few bites left. Here, open up, Rowena coaxed, holding out another spoonful
Rowena kept feeding her, and Winifred quietly finished everything without a word. As Rowena went to put away the bowl, the room fell into a comfortable silence.
When Rowena came back, she caught Winifred trying to get our of bed and rushed over to stop her. “You can’t get up yet!”
