153 Break a Hand
A
id to Chloe,
Landon nearly choked trying to hold back a laugh. He forced a straight face and “Ms. Lewis, are you being serious? How could you treat something like this so lightly? Our… Eugene is still an innocent rookie, you know?”
When Landon said that, Selina shot him a sharp glare.
Chloe blinked, not quite understanding his meaning at first. She just wanted Eugene to get help as quickly as possible. He was in this state because he had stepped in for her. If he hadn’t taken that spiked drink, she would be the one suffering now.
“So… he can’t?” The words slipped out, laced with nervous tension.
Landon put on a serious expression. “Ms. Lewis, you know how Eugene is. If he doesn’t want to do something, he won’t–even if it kills him.” Though if it were you, he might just throw all that stubbornness out the window.
He kept that last thought to himself. Seeing how tense Chloe looked, he decided to stop teasing her.
“The doctor said as long as he wakes up within half an hour, there will be no aftereffects in that regard. Let’s just wait.”
Hearing that, Chloe felt a wave of relief.
Half an hour would go by quickly. Just a little longer. Everything would be okay.
She sat down in a nearby chair, not even realizing how tightly wound and restless she had become. Selina noticed the shift and hid a smile, then gave Landon another warning look before sitting down beside Chloe.
“He’ll be fine. Eugene’s tough. Seriously tough.”
“That brat Anthony is practically asking for a death wish,” Joseph growled, his anger boiling over. He stormed out, cursing under his breath, with Joe following closely behind.
It wasn’t hard to guess where they were headed.
At Ruiz Villa…
Anthony sped all the way back to the Ruiz Villa. The moment he stepped inside and saw a servant, he snapped, “Where’s my grandpa?”
The servant only glanced at him, then quickly scurried away without a word.

Chapter 153 Break a Hand
Anthony watched, fuming. Even the help had an attitude today?
Did these people have a death wish?

He was just about to explode when a harsh, authoritative voice cut through the main hall.
“You little brat! So you finally decided to come back!” Along with the angry shouts came the sound of a cane slamming fiercely against the floor–sharp, rapid, and utterly car–piercing.
Hearing that voice, Anthony looked further into the house. The lighting was dim. Kerry sat calmly on the sofa as if it were any ordinary day.
Anthony strode in and flipped the main lights on. Two bodyguards in black stood silently behind Kerry.
He didn’t think much of it. He usually traveled with more guards than Kerry anyway.
He dropped onto the sofa opposite Kerry, crossed his legs, and raised an eyebrow. “Grandpa, why did you drag me back in such a hurry?”
Kerry stared at Anthony, his eyes bloodshot, burning with rage.
“You little punk, what the hell did you do?” The cane struck the floor again, harder this time.
The whole room seemed to vibrate with the force.
Seeing how serious Kerry was, Anthony uncrossed his legs, sat up straighter, and tried to sound calm. “Grandpa, I didn’t do anything. I really don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Anthony, I’ll give you one last chance to choose your words carefully,” Kerry said, his face stern, his gaze locked on him.
A cold dread settled in Anthony’s stomach. His parents were overseas, and Kerry held the Ruiz family firmly in his grasp. As Kerry’s only grandson, Anthony had always been spoiled- practically indulged his whole life. But today, Kerry’s anger was on a level he had never seen before.
“Grandpa, I just… made a bit of a scene at the auction,” Anthony admitted with a click of his tongue, explaining how he had tried to show off. It was a shame he hadn’t got the item he wanted.
“You still refuse to tell the truth?” Kerry let out a weary sigh, gave Anthony one final glance, and simply raised his hand in a silent gesture.
