He Cheated I Rose: Making Him Regret Everything (Chloe and Arthur) novel Chapter 211

**A Promise Hidden in the Quiet Rain by Adrian Hale**
**Chapter 211: The Roadside Confrontation**

As Chloe scrolled through her messages, a wave of warmth washed over her at the sight of a cascade of heart emojis. The digital affection was unmistakable, and she could easily envision Oralia’s beaming smile radiating from the other side of the screen, her excitement palpable even from afar.

Chloe had always believed that successful investing hinged on passion. She felt a genuine connection to the script they were developing, and that made the decision to inject another hefty sum into its budget feel less like a risk and more like a natural step forward.

With a determined flick of her wrist, she dialed Leo. “I need you to handle the follow-up,” she instructed, her tone brisk and businesslike. “Add another fifty million directly to the Rebirth budget.”

As soon as she ended the call, her phone buzzed insistently again. The caller ID displayed a sequence of repeating digits, a number that exuded an air of importance, almost demanding attention.

Chloe arched an eyebrow, a flicker of recognition sparking in her mind. She had a strong suspicion about who was on the other end.

“Hello?” she answered, her voice steady.

“Got a moment?” came the deep, familiar voice, smooth as silk.

Eugene. It was unmistakably him.

“What is it?” she replied, curiosity piqued.

“Wanna relax a bit? I think you’ll really enjoy this place.” There was a slight hesitation in his tone, as if he anticipated her reluctance. “Mr. Slade is here too. Landon set it up. Everyone was hoping you could join us.”

Chloe considered his invitation, weighing the allure of a break against her busy schedule. Finally, she relented. “Alright. Send me the address.”

“Okay,” Eugene replied, a hint of relief evident in his voice.

As soon as they hung up, a text appeared on her screen, revealing the location: a vacation estate tucked away in the suburbs.

The drive would take approximately thirty minutes, and without wasting a moment, she shot back a quick “On my way” before gathering her things and heading out the door.

“Mommy, where are you going?” Robert’s voice piped up, innocent curiosity lacing his tone.

“I’m heading out for a bit. I’ll be back later,” she assured him, her gaze drifting to the nearby laptop. “Just don’t get too carried away with that, okay?”

“Got it, Mommy! Bring me back something yummy!” he chirped, a bright smile lighting up his face.

With that, Chloe slipped into her car, the familiar hum of the engine providing a sense of comfort as she drove alone. Before heading straight to the estate, she decided to make a quick detour to the largest supermarket nearby. She strolled through the aisles, picking up a few of Robert’s favorite snacks, tucking them into the passenger seat with a sense of satisfaction. With her mission accomplished, she started the engine once more and set off toward the estate, her mind buzzing with anticipation.

As she navigated the outskirts of the city, her thoughts drifted to the evening ahead. But suddenly, her focus snapped back as a sleek black sedan veered dangerously close to her vehicle, its aggressive maneuver startling her. Instinctively, Chloe jerked the steering wheel, narrowly avoiding a collision. Yet the black car showed no signs of retreat; it lunged again, skidding sideways to block her path, forcing her to come to a screeching halt.

So, they were targeting her.
