He Cheated I Rose: Making Him Regret Everything (Chloe and Arthur) novel Chapter 218

**A Promise Hidden in the Quiet Rain by Adrian Hale**

**Chapter 218: The Mother’s Ultimatum**

The atmosphere was thick with tension as Jennifer and Jenarth stood to the side, their expressions a mixture of concern and uncertainty. Madilyn, with a fierce determination in her eyes, reached out and pulled Jenarth closer, her protective instincts flaring. She then turned her attention to Jennifer, gesturing for her to take a seat.

“Jennifer, Jenarth, from this moment on, you both will make this place your home. Anyone who dares to try and take you away again will have to get through me first,” Madilyn declared, her voice unwavering and resolute. “And Arthur—let’s be clear here. You know exactly what ‘responsibility’ entails. Given the current circumstances, you have no other choice.”

Arthur, feeling the weight of her words, hung his head in silence. His heart sank, heavy with the realization that he was trapped in a situation he had never intended to create. He felt like a cornered animal, unable to escape the consequences of his actions.

“Mrs. Myers, I’ll take Arthur upstairs to change his clothes. He’s been out all day and must be utterly exhausted,” Jennifer offered, rising from her seat with a sense of purpose. She walked over to Arthur, slipping her arm through his as she gently guided him toward the stairs.

Arthur remained in a daze, his mind clouded with confusion and regret. Even as Jennifer’s warmth enveloped his arm and she led him up the staircase, he felt as though he were moving through a dream, detached from reality.

Once inside the bedroom, the door clicked shut behind them, sealing them in a space that felt both intimate and charged with unspoken words. In a sudden rush of emotion, Jennifer wrapped her arms around Arthur’s waist from behind, pulling him close as if to shield him from the world outside.

“Arthur, I’m so sorry. I can’t imagine my life without you. I know I shouldn’t feel this way, but just one more look from you would mean everything to me,” she confessed, her voice trembling with raw emotion. She tightened her embrace, as if trying to merge their souls in that moment.

“Arthur, I’m begging you. I won’t demand a wedding or anything official. I just want to love you quietly, hidden in the shadows where no one can judge us. Please… just give me a chance to love you, okay?” Her plea hung in the air, heavy and desperate.

Slowly, Arthur lifted his head, his gaze drifting to the reflection in the glass of a nearby cabinet. The face staring back at him was a stranger, caught in a limbo between joy and sorrow. He couldn’t decipher if the reflection was smiling or crying; all he knew was that he felt utterly lost.

Carolyn excitedly shared the news of her new role in a movie on her social media, and the likes began to flood in like a tidal wave.

Her biggest admirer, Emily Tan, didn’t waste a moment and called her the instant she saw the post.

Listening to Emily’s adoring voice, Carolyn couldn’t help but smile, her heart swelling with pride.

“Absolutely! It’s a deal. I’ll take you to the set, and I’ll even arrange for Oralia to take a picture with you,” Carolyn replied, her enthusiasm infectious.
