Chloe’s eyes darkened when she heard that. “Robert!”

Robert stuck out his tongue and grinned. “Just kidding, Mommy! Look at me–I’m all sweet and innocent. Would I ever do something like that?”

Chloe’s expression turned serious. “The more Arthur tries to block me, the more I’ll prove that I can live my best life without him!”

She opened her laptop and sorted through her emails again. She skipped the ones from companies linked to Myers Group–those were hopeless now. The rest were just small firms. They were too afraid to cross Arthur. So they also wouldn’t invite her for interviews.

Arthur was trying to corner her. Did he really think she’d come begging?

Not a chance.

Forget being a designer–even if she changed careers, Arthur would probably find a way to ruin it. Who does he think he is? Being theCEO of Myers Group doesn’t make him king of the world!

Chloe ignored those options and searched for new companies.

Myers Group was a giant in Capaville. So were the Massey Group and Goetz Group–but their heirs were all friends with Arthur. She had to avoid them too.

What did that leave?

She frowned. She could leave the city, but why should she? She wouldn’t run. She wanted to carve out her own path right here in Capaville.

Let Arthur and Jennifer do what they wanted. She refused to let them control her life.

If she wanted to stay in Capaville without Arthur interfering, she needed a company even Myers Group couldn’t touch.

Then she saw it–Cosmos Group.

It wasn’t well–known locally yet, but globally, it was a legend.

It was one of the world’s top companies, with brands and chains all over the globe. It had built a business empire in record time.

Its owner, Eric Meader, had become the world’s richest man overnight six months ago.

Rumors said he was reclusive, living on a private island called Emerald Bay. He only appeared for major

business.

Cosmos Group had opened a branch in Capaville just three months ago and was hiring talents.

It was a perfect opportunity for Chloe.

Arthur had no influence there. In fact, Myers Group and Cosmos Group were direct competitors. With Cosmos Group developing in Capaville, Myers Group was probably busy trying to suck up to them!

Without hesitation, Chloe sent her resume to Cosmos Group.

Robert gave her a thumbs–up. “You’re awesome, Mommy!”

With that done, Chloe went out shopping for their new home. She bought what they needed and had it delivered. Robert stayed back to receive everything.

“Love you, Mommy!”

Hearing his voice warmed her heart. Having Robert by her side was all that mattered.
