r 53 The Dinner Invitation
Chloe’s eyes fell on the car, and she frowned slightly. There was something familiar about it–the longer she looked, the more certain she felt.
Bruce sat in the passenger seat, waving enthusiastically in her direction.
“Hey, Ms. Lewis!”
Just as he spoke, the rear window slid down smoothly, revealing a tall figure seated inside.
Eugene turned his head, his eyes meeting hers. “Let’s get something to eat,” he said calmly. “I still owe you a proper thank you for last time.”
Chloe didn’t respond immediately. She remained where she was, unmoving. Bruce opened his mouth to extend the invitation again, but Chloe finally spoke.
“I’ll drive,” she stated, pressing her car key.
Her red sports car, parked along the street, beeped in reply–almost as if agreeing with her.
Eugene watched her, a faint smile appearing on his lips.
Chloe walked directly to the front of his car and leaned one hand lazily against the hood. “Mr. Rosewood,” she called out to the man inside, “I should be the one thanking you for looking after me in the hospital. And as you can see, I landed a great job today. If we’re having a meal, it’s my treat!”
Bruce had been about to mention the high–end five–star restaurant he’d already booked, but Eugene responded first.
“Alright, I’ll leave it in your hands, Ms. Lewis. Actually, there’s something I’d like to discuss with you.”
“In that case… care to ride with me?” Chloe raised an eyebrow, a playful smile on her lips.
“Sure,” Eugene replied without hesitation, stepping out of the car at once.
“Mr. Rosewood!” Bruce exclaimed, caught off guard.
Eugene turned and gave him a cool glance. That one look told Bruce everything he needed to know.
Stop talking. Time to go.
Bruce didn’t dare say another word. He quickly motioned for the driver to leave.
As the car pulled away, Eugene turned back to Chloe. “Let’s go.”
“Alright,” she said, spinning around and heading straight for her red sports car.
Eugene followed calmly. When they reached her car, he slid directly into the passenger seat.
Chloe glanced at Eugene sitting in the passenger seat and frowned slightly. She was used to driving alone, and with his tall frame now occupying the passenger seat, the interior suddenly felt rather cramped.

Chapter 53 The Dinner Invitation
Well, she couldn’t exactly blame him for being tall.
Chloe got in and started the engine.
“Mr. Rosewood, any food preferences? Anything you particularly like?” she asked.
“I’m not picky. You choose.”
Hearing that, Chloe instinctively glanced at the man beside her.
Tisher
Eugene sat with his hand resting casually against the window. Chloe studied the man beside her. He carried himself with such natural authority. Suddenly, it clicked–his showing up right outside Cosmos Group couldn’t be a coincidence. He’d been waiting for her.
Was dinner really all he was after?
Since he’d claimed to have no preferences and left the decision to her, she decided to take him at his word.
“Mr. Rosewood, ever had the urge to try something a little more… ordinary?” Chloe asked with a smile.
Eugene turned to look at her, paused for a few seconds, then replied, “Whatever you decide, Ms. Lewis.”
“Alright then, hold on tight.” With that, Chloe pressed hard on the accelerator, surging forward rapidly.
Eugene leaned back comfortably, unfazed by the sudden burst of speed. He watched Chloe drive, her profile sharp and striking. A faint smile touched his lips before he turned away.
But then, unexpectedly, his gaze fell on Chloe’s neckline.
She was wearing a business suit today, and with her relax movements, her collar had slipped slightly lower. She seemed unaware that one button had come undone, revealing a glimpse below her collarbone.
With just that one glance, Eugene caught a generous view of her chest. Acting as though nothing had happened, he turned to watch the passing scenery outside the window.
