Chapter 25 Jealous Husband, Romance Movie:
Halfway through the movie, the situation Rose had been dreading happened.
Houston suddenly sent her a text with two movie tickets attached. They were for the same film Rose and Jackson were currently watching.
Rose, are you free tonight? Come watch a movie with me
Rose quickly sent Houston a screenshot of the movie screen.
Houston’s expression darkened immediately as he saw the screenshot. “Rose, who are you with?”
Rose couldn’t see Houston’s dark expression through the phone screen.
“Jackson,” she confessed, not great at lying..
Houston’s anger flared. This was one of the rare romantic love movies being released, marketed as a gift to all the true lovers and couples in the world.
And here Rose was, watching it with Jackson, How could he not be angry?
“How is he with you?
Rose replied honestly, “Well, he still has feelings for me, and my dad, eager to marry me off, bought us the tickets to give us some private time.”
Houston’s jealousy soared.
Rose then sent him a soft and sweet text: “Houston, I’m feeling uncomfortable. Can you come get me?“
When Houston saw Rose’s message, all of his bad mood disappeared in an instant.
He couldn’t help but smile faintly, then called out to his assistant, “Daniel!”
Daniel hurried into the room. “Mr. Clarke, what can I do for you?”
“There’s a new employer at Clarke Group named Jackson. Gall him and tell him to come to the office immediately.
Daniel was puzzled. “But Mr. Clarke, the company’s recent workload islight. No one needs to stay late this week.”
Houston, still holding the movie tickets, responded nonchalantly, “You handle it.”
Daniel, who knew Houston well, realized this was just Houston’s way of causing trouble for Jackson. He felt sorry for the guy. who hadn’t even settled in at the company yet and was already in Houston’s crosshairs. His time at the company was about to get difficult.
“Understood, Daniel replied, leaving to carry out the task.
At the cinema, Jackson’s phone rang while he was absorbed in the movie. Rose reminded him. “Mr. Jackson, your phone”
He glanced at the screen, and his face grew serious. “Sorry, Rose, I have to take this important call”
“Okay,” she replied
Jackson stepped out of the theater but didn’t return. Instead, he sent Rose a text
“Huse, the company called me back for an urgent matter. I’m sorry, I have to leave now. I’ll make it up to you next time.”
Rose sighed with relief, feeling the tension leave her
However, not long after, a tall figure sat beside her. A cup of pure green tea was handed to her, and she was startled.
Rose watched him, unsure if he had caught the hint.
Only when they reached the building and she stepped into the elevator did Rose smile.
So, he had understood hier after all.
However, Rose soon became worried again. “Houston, my dad already has an impression of Jackson. If he treats you rudely, don’t take it personally
Houston smiled softly Got it
When Rose brought Houston into the house, Sam was completely stunned to see him.
Rose, where’s Jackson
Rose casually replied. “Hr got called into the office for an urgent task.”
Sam glanced at the lavish spread on the table, his disappointment only lasting for a moment. Then, he placed a hand on Houston’s shoulder, leading him into the house.
Houston, come on in. I owe you a huge thank you. If it weren’t for you getting Dr. Jason for Linda, her recovery wouldn’t have been so quick You’ve really helped the Marshall family!
“Mr. Sam, it was nothing. No need for thanks”
Rose was in disbelief watching Sam and Houston get along so well
Not long ago, they were in conflict–what had shifted Something gets off
As anticipated, during dinner, Sam began proudly talking about Rose’s boyfriend. “Houston, since you’re such a good friend to Rose, could you do her a favor! She’s been seeing a PhD from Kingsford College, and he’s really fond of her. Can you help Rose evaluate him and see if he’s a good match for her?”
