He Watched Me Shine Without Him novel Chapter 57

"Miller Road Market." Grace replied.

Houston quickly arrived at the Miller Road Market. His car sped into the market area, honking loudly as he drove straight to the scene. With a sharp brake, he got out of the car and rushed to Linda's side.

"Madam Linda," he called out.

Linda looked up at Houston weakly, her hand pressed against her chest. "Houston, I'm sorry I've troubled you. I didn't mean to delay your work," she said, her face filled with embarrassment.

Without a word, Houston picked her up. The car door slid open automatically, revealing a driver in the front seat and a doctor in a white coat sitting in the back.

Grace stood stunned for a moment before hurrying to follow. "Wait for me! I need to go with you and help," she called out.

Houston gently placed Linda on the reclining chair in the back seat. The doctor immediately attended to her.

"How are you feeling?" the doctor asked Linda.

"I need my nitroglycerin pills, and I'll be fine," Linda replied honestly.

The doctor shook his head. "Your face is very pale. Nitroglycerin might not be enough."

Linda looked at Houston, her eyes filled with guilt. "Houston, I'm really okay. Don't spend money on doctors. We don't have much savings left. We need it for your wedding with Rose."

Houston comforted her. "Madam Linda, don't worry. I'll take care of the wedding expenses."

"Don't make things difficult for Rose," Linda insisted.

"I won't. We'll have the wedding exactly as you and Mr. Sam want it," Houston assured her.

Linda held Houston's hand tightly. "Houston, Rose is lucky to have you."

Grace felt a pang of jealousy. If Linda hadn't been ill, she might have said something snide again.

After Houston got Linda to the hospital, he quickly paid the medical bills. Somehow, he managed to get the hospital director and a team of cardiologists to enter the ward in a grand procession.

Grace was stunned by the sight. She pulled her cardiologist husband aside and asked curiously, "Did you arrange for all these specialists? You're really taking care of Linda, aren't you?"

Aaron gave her a disapproving look. "I'm just a regular chief physician. I don't have the power to get the director here."

"Then who did?" Grace pressed.

"How should I know?" Aaron replied irritably before walking away.

Grace stood there, muttering to herself, "Could it be Rose?"

Ethan clutched his stomach, cowering on the floor.

Grace scolded Houston. "Houston, you think you're so great? Do you know who you are? Acting out in a hospital like this. I'll call the police if you don't stop."

Houston just gave her a dismissive look.

At that moment, the ward door opened, and the doctors filed out, led by the hospital director. Both Ethan and the other doctors were silent in the director's presence, their faces stern.

Rose ran to the director, her face frantic. "How is my mom?"

The director glanced at Rose, but his gentle gaze shifted to Houston. "The patient's blood pressure rose slightly, causing some fluctuations in the ECG, but fortunately, the timely assistance means there's no serious danger. She just needs to take her medication on schedule at home," he said.

Rose let out a sigh of relief.

Without paying attention to the exchange between the director and Houston, she hurried into the ward.

Houston nodded almost imperceptibly at the director, who then led the doctors away.

Houston entered the ward.

Aaron, who had deliberately stayed in the ward, turned to Grace as she entered and scolded her sternly, "You really know how to cause trouble. You knew Rose's mom has a heart condition. Why did you provoke her?”
