Ethan's face was somewhat indifferent. "A friend of mine had some trouble, so I went to his place," he explained.
Aaron didn't suspect anything else and anxiously told him, "Vivian is still at the police station. You need to go and bail her out."
For the first time, Ethan's face showed some emotion. "What happened?"
"Last night she went to see Rose, and Houston slapped her. The police officers took her away on the grounds of disturbing others," Aaron explained.
Ethan's mouth dropped open, and his expression was truly indescribable. He covered his mouth with one hand, seemingly struggling to hold back a string of expletives.
Finally, all his restraint burst, and he kicked the wall fiercely.
Aaron thought Ethan was upset about his daughter's situation, but then Ethan suddenly cursed, "Damn it, she's totally lost her mind when she's pregnant."
Aaron's expression froze.
He looked at Ethan in disbelief. "What did you say?" His loving gaze turned sharp.
"I broke up with Rose a long time ago. Vivian couldn't find me, so she went to Rose to look for me. She was humiliating Rose and, by extension, me," Ethan shouted, his face contorted with anger.
Aaron knew his daughter's actions were inappropriate, but Ethan's self-centered attitude also made him feel cold.
"Ethan, Vivian is carrying your child. Instead of feeling sorry for her situation, you're blaming her for bothering Rose. Do you really love Vivian?"
Aaron asked, his voice trembling with anger but still trying to be patient.
Ethan, seeing his father-in-law's anger, quickly regained his composure and forced down his temper. "Dad, I'm wrong."
Aaron waved his hand wearily. "Go, bail Vivian out. I'll cover for you at work."
Ethan turned and walked towards the hospital exit.
Out of Aaron's sight, Ethan took out his phone and quickly found Rose's number.
He called her, intending to settle the score and apologize sincerely.
I want to reprimand Houston for hitting Vivian and also make amends with Rose.
But the call was met with a strange voice, "Sorry, the number you have dialed is no longer in service."
Is she trying to completely cut ties with the past?
Has she been so harassed by me and Vivian that she made such a decisive move?
I knew Vivian had been detained for disturbing the peace, and this was a bit exaggerated.
That must be Houston who is behind the scenes, but I can't understand how a real estate consultant like Houston can have such influence.
He was probably just having a little power and dared to play a role in front of me. I will teach him a lesson.
After bailing Vivian out, he saw her eyes were red and puffy, her hair disheveled. She almost ran into his arms. "Where were you last night? Do you have any idea how worried I was? I asked all your classmates, and none of them knew where you were. I had no choice but to ask Rose for help, and then..."
She sobbed uncontrollably, her body shaking with grief, "They ganged up on me. Ethan, Rose is so mean. You have to teach her a lesson..."
Ethan's heart softened at the sight of Vivian's tearful face, and he held her close.
"Vivian, wait. I'll get you back for this. I'll find someone to deal with that jerk Houston. How dare he hit my woman."
Vivian, who had been holding back her anger, suddenly exploded, "Where were you last night? This is the second time you've been out all night. Where did you go?"
Ethan hesitated for a moment, his voice lacking confidence, "Vivian, I'm an adult. I need my freedom. I was only out of touch for half a day, and you caused such a scene. How am I supposed to live in peace with you acting like this?"
Vivian fired back at him, "I'm pregnant, and you don't stay with me at night. Who are you staying with then? If you don't tell me today, I'm not done with you."
Ethan looked at Vivian's growing belly and said apologetically, "I was with Jack."
Vivian had been worried that her hard-earned intellectual husband might be lured away by another woman. Hearing that he was with Jack, she immediately felt relieved.
Seeing her anger subside, Ethan continued to coax her, "How many times have I told you, I'm in a critical period of my career. I need friends, I need to socialize. You should have more trust in me. Can't you learn from Rose?”
