At this point, Stella paused for a moment. “That’s all I know.”
The police officer turned to Anna. “Is there anything else you know?”

Anna suddenly burst into tears. “I don’t know if her family was out to get her. Emily had such a tragic life. When I saw her lying there, dead,
1…”
Anna quickly grabbed the officer’s sleeve. “Please, you have to find the real killer. Emily deserves justice.”
The officer calmly pushed her hand away. “Don’t worry, this is our job. But you both need to stay available at all times, not just for this case, but also for Eleanor’s case. There are still too many things that don’t add up.”
“Of course, I’ll come whenever you call me,” Anna replied, sounding very cooperative.
As they walked out, Anna’s eyes were still red and puffy. She didn’t look the least bit suspicious.
Stella, meanwhile, kept a cold face and didn’t even want to spare her a glance.
Just as Stella was about to leave, Anna called out to her. “Stella.”
Stella stopped in her tracks but didn’t turn around. She said coldly, “What do you want?”
“Stella, I’m just as upset about Grandma’s and Emily’s deaths as you are. They were the nfost important people in my life, and now they gone. Do you really think their deaths have anything to do with me?” Anna asked.
Stella turned around and looked her straight in the eye. “Does it really have nothing to do with you?”
“Do you think I killed them?” Anna asked.
“I don’t have any proof, but I’m working on it. Maybe, before this is over, you’ll end up hurting more people. But Anna, I believe in karma and retribution. Whether you believe it or not, I hope you know exactly what you’re doing,” Stella said,
Anna kept her eyes fixed on Stella.
Just as Stella was about to turn and leave, Monroe called out to stop her. “What do you mean by that? None of us is accusing you of anything, so why are you accusing Anna? Anna wouldn’t even dare to step on an ant.”
Stella gave a faint smile. “That’s true, she wouldn’t even dare to step on an ant. But that’s only because ants are of no use to her.” With that, Stella took Kevin and Jordan with her and left.
Monroe was still fuming and wanted to call out to Stella, but Anna quickly stopped him. “Monroe, just let her go,” Anna said softly.
“If I don’t, is she just going to keep blaming you?” Monroe asked, frustrated.
“Stella never believed me anyway. It doesn’t matter if you go after her or not. If she doesn’t trust me, so be it. As long as you believe me, that’s all I need,” Anna replied.
Monroe looked at her, his heart breaking at the sight of her pain. “Of course I believe you. I trust you completely.”
Suddenly, Anna pressed her lips to his.
Monroe froze, caught off guard.

Chapter 156
Seeing that he didn’t react, Anna whispered softly, “Is this okay? When I was with Lionel, we never did anything like this. My first kiss is yours, 1-”
Before she could finish, Monroe pulled her into his arms and kissed her back, this time with real passion. He had wanted her for so long. For as long as he could remember, that longing had been there.
He’d always been afraid of hurting her, so he never dared to take that step. Anna’s words and the way she kissed him gave him the courage he’d been missing, and there was no way he was letting this chance slip by.

Seeing this, Kevin turned to go over, but Stella stopped him. “Why are you going over there?” Stella asked.
“Does he even realize who he’s kissing? She’s such a dangerous person,” Kevin muttered.
“Don’t get involved. If Monroe wants this, there’s nothing we can do. Besides, how do you know Monroe isn’t helping her?” Stella replied.
Kevin looked at Stella, startled.
“Of course, that’s just my guess. I really don’t think Anna could have pulled all this off by herself. Maybe Monroe’s in on it, maybe he has no idea. Either way, until we have real evidence, we can’t do anything reckless,” Stella said.
If it were just Anna, she’d be a lot easier to handle. But with Monroe in the mix, they’d have to wait until they were sure before they did anything.
“I heard they’ve moved Andrew and Max back to the original hospital. Max’s condition has improved a lot,” Kevin said.
“Yeah, if it weren’t for that, I wouldn’t have even known Emily was dead,” Stella replied.
‘If it hadn’t been for that, I probably wouldn’t have found out about Emily’s death for several more days,‘ Stella thought to herself.
Kevin still felt a bit down. “No matter if Emily was really our friend or not, I still feel sad about her death.”
Stella didn’t say a word. Eleanor’s death was a little easier to accept because her health had been bad for a long time, and it was only a matter of time. But Emily’s death really caught us off guard.
Suddenly, Jordan spoke up. “I’m afraid that fire last time wasn’t actually meant to kill us. It was to destroy the evidence Emily had.”
Both Stella and Kevin turned to look at him.
A chill crept up from the base of Stella’s spine, spreading through every part of her body. She kept her eyes fixed on Jordan. “So, it’s possible Emily was tricked too,” Stella said.
Kevin suddenly thought of something. “Do you think there’s a chance Emily left something behind that we just don’t know about?”
Stella shook her head. “We can only try to look for it, but honestly, I bet Anna’s already searched everywhere in the last twenty–four hours. If there was anything left, she’s probably found it and hidden it by now.”
Kevin said, “No worries. I’ll go back and check the surveillance footage, see if I can spot any slip–ups.”
Stella had thought that with Emily gone, the whole case would just hit a wall. But what Jordan said was like a sudden wake–up call. Everything clicked into place. Even the dead didn’t stay silent.
Stella immediately went back to look into Anna’s recent activities over the past few days.
Anna was seriously sharp. Watching the surveillance footage, Stella saw that Anna really hadn’t done anything at all. Anna kept a low profile, nothing out of the ordinary.
