Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 2248

Elowen raised a brow and burst into a laugh as she looked at the young Jensens before her. It was a cold, mocking laugh, though.

"Aren't you afraid I'll deal with you the same way I dealt with that little tortoise, considering the disrespect you've shown me?"

At her words, Caleb was the first to shiver. A wave of unpleasant memories washed over him, and for a moment, he actually considered taking back what he said.

Yet, before he could do so, Scott fearlessly taunted, "Why would I be afraid? True strength stands firm! Shannon would never let you off if you dared mess with us!"

Caleb, now filled with despair, wanted nothing more than to cover this stupid brother's mouth. Even Hank was equally speechless.

Sure, he wasn't going to change his stance just because of a threat or two, but that didn't mean they had to go out of their way to provoke her either, especially when it was clear she was dangerously unpredictable.

Although Elowen hadn't intended to bother with a few humans, it wasn't often that someone dared to provoke her directly. If she didn't respond in some way, wouldn't that make her look… soft?

Another chilling laugh escaped her lips. Then, she raised her hand.

As soon as she moved, Zane instinctively touched the red string around his wrist. It was at that exact instant that the protective barrier around the Jensen residence rippled visibly.

Louise and Thalia had appeared at the top of the stairs. Spotting Elowen's raised hand, Louise immediately called out, "Please wait, my lady!"

Of course, Elowen didn't hesitate. With a snap of her fingers, the Jensen brothers, along with the Stone Turtle, vanished in an instant.

It was truly unexpected to Louise and Thalia that this was the true nature of the Ten-Tailed Elythune—so willful and unpredictable.

Still, setting aside her relationship with Shannon, Louise could actually understand Elowen's reaction.

As a powerful demon, a Ten-Tailed Elythune at that, and a being who had lived for over ten thousand years, Elowen stood at the very pinnacle of the food chain.

Ordinary ferocious beasts were no match for her, so how did one expect her to see things from the perspective of the weak? She rarely placed value on trivial matters and beings.

If anyone dared to provoke her or merely said something displeasing, the punishment would be whatever suited her mood.

"She may be the Ruler of Foxes, but if I were to simply retaliate with full force, her mind domain will suffer irreversible damage."

She continued, "She took that major risk and forced her way into my domain. Wasn't it all for the sake of helping you recall Shannon's consciousness?"

As those words sank in, Thalia's mind seemed to buzz, as if something had clicked deep inside her. It was like her ability to think had finally been jolted back to life.

Earlier, she had been so focused on Shannon that when Louise said she would meet Elowen with her, she assumed it was purely to negotiate with her as the Ruler of Foxes—perhaps even find a way to ensure Shannon's consciousness was intact.

Yet, somehow, she had forgotten to consider one thing—what could Louise possibly do in this situation?

She was merely a Nine-Tailed Ruler of Foxes, and against a Ten-Tailed Elythune, what could she possibly do to recall Shannon's consciousness?

There was nothing she could do but execute a futile attempt.

"You'd better pray that she fails to awaken Shannon's consciousness," Elowen said.
