Standing at the edge of the stairs of the Jensen residence, Thalia and Velquin tensed. Their gazes were fixed on the spot where Benjamin and Elowen had vanished moments ago.
But that stillness quickly shifted, and a new presence flickered into existence. It was so radiant and powerful that the moment it appeared, the air seemed to stir.
Centering the presence, a wave of spiritual energy rippled outward from the heart of the Jensen residence.
Upstairs, Adam sensed a light breeze brushing past his face. With it came a deep clarity as if his soul had been rinsed clean.
It reminded him of the spirit-gathering array Shannon used to set up in the house and the ripples of spiritual energy it'd brought about, but this was more refined and luminous.
A sudden realization struck him, and he stepped out from the study without a word.
When he reached the third-floor starwell, Hector was already there. That was when Scott and the brothers, alongside Louise, who'd vanished into Elowen's domain, rememerged.
The once-spacious hallway quickly became crowded.
Zane and the others looked confused, but neither Hector nor Thalia paid them much attention right now.
Along with their reappearance, where Elowen had stood was now split by a spatial rift. Rich, spiritual energy poured from within and shimmered with light, resonating with every soul in the room.
Even Louise visibly trembled. When she looked toward the rift, she seemed subtly deep in thought.
Before she could ponder it, Shannon stepped through the spatial rift, hand in hand with Benjamin. Behind them was a glimpse of another world beyond the spatial rift—a sea of lush greenlands.
More importantly, there were ten barely visible tails swaying gently behind Shannon.
As she stepped out of the domain, the ten tails scattered into glimmers of mystic light and vanished alongside the domain behind her.
"Exactly!" Scott nodded eagerly and launched into an enthusiastic retelling.
Everything had felt real in the dreamscape. There, Shannon had woken up as Elowen, but she was several times more powerful than the Shannon they knew.
There was no need for mudras or chants as space would bend with just a lift of her hand.
At one point in the dreamscape, she'd flung Scott into the sky with a flick of her tail, only to catch him perfectly. Then, Elowen gifted him a strand of fox fur.
With that fox fur, Scott was suddenly surrounded by a horde of respectful ghosts and demon underlings, all eager to serve at his command.
He led them in riddling the school delinquents who'd been harassing female students and even solved a series of supernatural disturbances. The teachers and dean were so thankful toward him.
By the end of it all, Adrian praised him and told him he'd one day carry on Shannon's mantle to become a great mystic master himself.
