"Does anyone have any thoughts on the possible merging between Vlad's malice and the Alternate Divine Power?"
A heavy silence spread through the room.
The truth was, at least for the moment, none of them really had any good ideas.
While there was strength in numbers, in the alternate world, where everyone's spiritual and supernatural powers were being suppressed by the Alternate Divine Power, even the best ideas often ended up being little more than wishful thinking.
Vlad was already difficult enough to deal with, and now, there wasn't much they could do with the Alternate Divine Power behind him.
Fennec looked left and right and, after some thought, piped up. "Maybe… I could use the Might of the Divine Power within me to try establishing communication with it."
Perhaps because she carried that power, she had a lingering sense that the Alternate Divine Power wasn't entirely beyond reason.
Her suggestion gathered everyone's eyes on her.
Their reactions were justified, mainly because they had just witnessed Mike's abduction from its grasp. If there were room for negotiations, they wouldn't have to confront it as soon as they arrived.
Still, Shannon hadn't forgotten that Fennec had remained in the alternate world as its guardian because she carried with her a fragment of the Might of the Divine Power, meant to suppress the disaster of that world.
In a way, she was the only one in the alternate world truly capable of connecting with the Alternate Divine Power.
Therefore, it wasn't without basis for her to make such a suggestion.
"What are you thinking?" Shannon asked Fennec.
"It's just a feeling I have," Fennec said after a moment of hesitation.
"Even though they're merging, it doesn't seem to accept being driven by that malice. Even the power within me feels vaguely disconnected from the Alternate Divine Power…"
At least, for now, she didn't feel any sense of being controlled by it.
Even after the merging, it wouldn't willingly allow itself to be tainted or driven by Vlad's malice, especially if it meant acting against its own laws and principles.
Those in power hated nothing more than having their decisions manipulated, even when those decisions were right.
Shannon thought, perhaps the Alternate Divine Power was in such a predicament. And if that were true…
A new idea began to take shape in her mind. "Maybe we can try working with the Alternate Divine Power."
In a three-way struggle, the first two sides to join forces naturally held the upper hand. But what if that alliance wasn't going smoothly?
Even if she had guessed wrong, it didn't matter; they could find a way to make that alliance fall apart. If the Divine Power itself had its own intentions, then there was every chance they could pull it over to their side.
After all, if she had once managed to tear Velquin's soul away from Vlad, then now, together, they could find a way to separate Vlad from the Alternate Divine Power.
