The golden light that had rained down from beyond the domain froze in midair when the golden token appeared.

Not just Lexie and Heston, but the massive waves from the earlier collision seemed to stall as though time had ground to a halt.

The world dissolved into nothingness, yet everything before Shannon's eyes remained sharp and clear. She gazed at the golden token floating midair and instinctively reached out.

The token responded as if summoned and drifted toward her outstretched palm. Small and light, it began to sink inward the moment it came in contact.

Just as the edge of the token burrowed into her skin, a figure suddenly lunged at her from within the supposedly frozen domain.

Shannon instinctively lashed out with her tail, but when she realized who it was, she withdrew her strength at the last second.

Even so, the intruder took the full force of her strike head-on while reaching out and grabbing the golden token embedded in her palm.

The moment their fingers touched the token, its golden light flared violently and seared into their flesh. A blood-curdling scream followed.

Fennec threw her head back and howled in pain, yet stubbornly refused to let go of the golden token.

Shannon glared at Fennec, who'd entered the domain at some point. Anger surged in her eyes as she snarled, "Let go!"

Her fury wasn't aimed at Fennec, but at the Alternate Divine Power controlling her body.

Shannon would never let it succeed.
